AFAIAC, any WW2 combat vet can do just about anything he effin’ well pleases. They’ve earned that right!
While camping and cooking bacon in a cast iron pan…I figured you can drain and toss the bacon fat, or griddle some bread (sliced sourdough). Easier to griddle some bread. Goes well with an egg and tomato.

FIL suffered serious privation fighting on far-flung islands. My dad had it a little better, maybe, fighting with Patton’s Third Army in France and Germany. Both survived, otherwise neither Wahine or I would be here!
