+3 I LOVE to shop groceries. Could happily do it every day. I have my Aldi reusable bag and even the quarter holdin’ keychain (VIP, ya know!). Once my son moves back to college, I really have to contain myself. But when I see some big ass shimps, or great produce deals, I go Aldi blind.
I bought 3 reusable Aldi plastic bags about 8 years ago. These are the single ply ones - thicker than a regular grocery bag, but not as heavy as the bags Aldi has now.
I’m still using the last one. My wife laughs at me because it’s got very little of its original suface area not covered in clear packing tape.
The usual culprit causing tears is the top of the quart container of cream or half & half.
Hmmm. Wonder if I have to change my verdict to MEH. Mind you, the jar’s been around for a while, but it has a best by Dec 2024, so the pickles should still taste fine?
They don’t. Wish we had Grillo’s instead with our burgers
Had you opened them? I think “Best by” means to open by that date, and then consume in a reasonable amount of time ( for some definition of reasonable).
Yeah. I think that may have been the issue
I love the Grillo’s, too. BUT, these from Trader Joe’s are VERY good, reasonably priced ($4.49/24 Fl Oz) and I use the jar and the leftover brine to make my own pickles. Again, they aren’t as good as the Grillo’s, but they are IMHO a VERY good substitute and I really enjoy them. (It seems they no longer carry the spear version of the same pickles).
Good to know, although I prefer spears
I really think they just sat in the fridge too long. Probz bought them when we got back from Berlin in July
I think so. They seem to be a special buy.
Big NAY to the chipotle pumpkin pasta sauce. I don’t know what I was thinking. Gross. It’s going back.
Pls mention once you try? They look interesting but I haven’t seen them here yet (but also haven’t popped in for a few days).
I’ve never seen them there before; but I kind of breeze through the frozen stuff.
Oh my, sounds like a scary combo. They do have the best return policy. I tried their ground lamb two weeks ago and it was pretty decent. Still waiting for my .5 lamb to get butchered.
Ok, they weren’t horrible but how you heat them up is the diff btwn a nice quick lunch for less than $3.00 and a rock hard disappointment.
Defrost completely and heat through in a stove top pan. I used a cast iron pan and a flat iron press.
The last bag of the black tiger shrimp were marinated in olive oil, garlic, paprika, smoked paprika, cayenne, s&p, lemon juice. Coulda used more kick, but the shrimp themselves were wonderful: meaty, crisp, flavorful.
YAY they’re finally back in my local. I got 4 packages, may get more once I assess freezer space available as between the two freezers.
I have 2 packages thawing now and will follow your above and add some ancho chili powder as well.
But, how did you cook? Just a screaming hot CS skillet (etc) or did you grill?
Thanks!
(OR, if you have another rave prep, pls shoot it at us!)
YAY!
I’ve poached them, i.e. get a pot of salted water boiling, toss them in, then take the pot off the burner and throw them in an ice bath after 3-4 min (or whenever they are sufficiently-but-not-too-much curled), but the pic above is from grilling them. Either way, they are a true delight to eat.
Wish there were a Aldi anywhere near us, but I’m sure they’ll be around well into January
Yea - frozen shepherd’s pie (technically cottage), product of Canada. Fairly tasty and points for my kiddo liking it a lot.
Nay - Bremmer frozen lasagna. I suspect they changed suppliers. This is kinda gloopy – there’s cottage cheese mixed into the tomato-meat sauce, and not much texture. Pass.
I agree 100%. Like the pie, no to the lasagna.
Nay to the new-to-my-store organic b/s chicken thighs. Not trimmed well and inconsistent – two of the fillets were much smaller than the rest. Trader Joe’s are much better.
