Halfway between the meat and cheese on the back refrigerated shelves. Worth $5 but doubt I’ll buy again. It was just ok.
Agree. Meh. Not worth the calories.
They did surprise me. I’ve never had Grillo’s, but loved the Aldi’s.
In my store, it was back between cheeses and lunch meats. .
They’re astonishingly similar. Kinda like their “special select” marinara is a dead ringer for Rao’s, but we’ve been over that before
Yea: dark chocolate covered freeze dried strawberries. I was hoping they would be terrible so I wouldn’t have to keep eating them.
Nay: light yogurt. Accidental purchase by my husband. Cornstarch and other gross stuff. Also nay: reduced sugar Greek yogurt cups. They are sickeningly sweet with steviol.

OMG OMG OMG… the dill pickle chicharrones are back, so I immediately grabbed 4 bags. If you love pickle flavor, aren’t afraid of tartness, and generally enjoy pork rinds, these are pretty damn addictive.
Oh, and the Norwegian crisp bread is back with (my preferred choice of) sea salt, or the ever-present “everything” seasoning. Great with cheeses.

These don’t seem to be in the Hazlet (NJ) store, although there were a lot of empty spots on the shelves because they were re-arranging things. I did pick up the pickles, though.
I guess it also depends when your stores get their deliveries. I was looking for sesame brioche buns today for burgers, but the one branch never got their food delivery – some trouble with the truck.
The other branch thankfully had brioche buns, and plenty of them, so I picked them up. The dill pickle chicharrón may still be on their way.
I almost never buy pre-made guacamole unless I can’t find ripe avocados. Today, in a pinch, I bought this. Maybe it is the benefit of extra ripe avocados or my extreme hunger, but it’s really quite good for a packaged product.
I have a friend who calls it the Crap Aisle…but admits to making sure she wanders down it every time shes in an Aldi.
Ive bought some stuff that wasnt worth the price, but Ive also bought a lot of really nice things.
There are tons of Fb groups about the aisle of shame. One of my friends loves buying shirts and shoes there
Caw, caw.
Grocery equivalent of the Island of Misfit Toys
Just bought one of those frying pans for your grill, $10. It’s heavy duty.
“That’s where we fit in!”
My Aldi has stopped carrying those really big “Tiger” shrimp. BOO HISS.
It has started carrying butterflied boneless lamb leg. YAY! It’s priced at $7/lb here whereas the grocery across the street is charging nearly $9 for bone-in, with rare sales of both types around $8/lb.
I’m a bit nerdy about trimming when using for stews (what I did the last two times) and follow seams to break out the larger muscles individually so I can clear off any silverskin. I kept track and the yield of good big pieces vs. waste/fat and pieces too small for stew meat is much higher in larger legs.
our son had a batch of Alaskan (I think…? or a company that 'also specializes in Alaskan crab…) tiger shrimp. I found them much more difficult to peel/prep - a lot more blood produced from their rather effective defensive spines…
and then . . . imho the taste was simply not that great.
which I have also found true with jumbo east coast/gulf shrimp (I don’t buy Asian shrimp.)
the 15-18/lb range seems to be my optimum for taste & general use.
especially fond of butterflied …
