I’m glad I tried the Bonne Maman calendar, and glad I don’t want another one. I was mulling what my ideal advent calendar would contain… really good chocolate, I guess. Until they figure out how to make a gourmet ice cream advent calendar.

This is a nice one from Toronto. Although some flavours are usually quirky.
Oh wow, W-S really has quite the selection.
This is appealing.
I might buy an empty Advent calendar and fill it with locally-produced chocolates that Mom likes (she’s picky - no dark chocolate, no nuts except pistachio, many other restrictions.) There’s a non-trendy, old-fashioned chocolatier around here that makes really nice things.
I LOVE SOMA!!!
… is a complete sentence
It’s been at least 12 years now but I was the recipient of a Vosges “chocolate advent castle” and was amazed by the unique packaging more than the truffles (which are awesome) at the time but my fav product is the hot chocolates she creates. Very special and fun.
Mine would have to be with Leonidas pralines, I think.
I can remember a Neiman Marcus advent calendar the MIL gave us when we were first married. Oh la la! I can recall the jar of candy ‘peas and carrots’ NM would have and the ‘sheep sheets’ from the late 60’s.
I used to love the candy peas and carrots. I haven’t seen them in Canada since the 1980s.
Not food, but a few years ago DH bought this calendar of jigsaw puzzles for me. It took over the kitchen table for the month but was actually a great gift. I’ve reused it since then!
Mom loves puzzles - thanks for this link!
Lego made nice non-candy Advent calendars and our kids and later, our grandson would get one at Thanksgiving. Do you think they’d wait those few days until Advent started? Do you think they’d open just one a day? Noooooo…
Advent. I enjoy licorice; especially salty black licorice.
Has gift potential…
My cousin and her husband enjoyed that particular liquorice advent calendar last year.
The flavors are so good. Just remembered this Co today.
For a period of time a couple from Denmark opened a breakfast place in NJ, not far from my small work studio and they carried this brand. Love at first bite.
Some interesting curated selections:
I got one too. My first one. Hope i dont get hooked.
