Our âgood-byeâ treat before the calendars doors stay closed for a few days: cheddar with port & milk chocolate hazelnut praline topped with caramelized almond (I initially typed âonionâ ).
What? Youâre not taking them with you?
The two advent calendars? Nah. Weâll be able to endulge in the missed days when we get back.
Sounds promising
How did all those little jars come out? Yay, mey or nay for next year
For me personally, nay. Much of the jam tastes the same, and I make great jam myself so itâs kind of a bummer. I was hoping the unusual flavors would be fun, but itâs been a bit of a letdown.
I bought a second one I havenât gifted and I think k itâs quite likely the recipient will enjoy it more than I did.
I havenât had as many as you did (probably still have half of them), but what Iâve had so far didnât wow me as I had hoped. Like you, I was expecting more. Itâs nice to try, and Iâll enjoy the rest of them eventually, but itâs a one-and-done for me.
The two â12 Daysâ ones I have left over will probably be divided up and put in a few Easter baskets with scones.
My feeling too based on the number of rejected jars that kept turning up on my local Buy Nothing group. One friend said she loved 3 of them, tolerated another 2, and gifted the rest
Cherry-hibiscus. Today I took the the unprecedented step of buttering my toast first. An improvement.
Orange-guava-lime.
Hated it, but in a strange twist, mom loved it.
I LIED TO MYSELF!!! I knew I had said I wasnât going to buy this again, but I was in World Market todayâŚand I caved. :::Sigh::: I think it was because they had some interesting flavor mixes, although I see several on the back of the box that are repeats from last year.
Next year. I will NOT get them next year!
Wow, yer gettinâ on the crimmeh train early!
Well, this is just for me, and they usually sell out, and I had forgotten I wasnât going to buy it this year, and some of them ARE good, and I know they donât carry them regularly, and I know itâs expensive, and Iâm just a sucker for marketing ploys like this, and I should really know better.
Iâll bring some in to work starting in December to work through them more quickly.
I bought two from them (Bonne Maman mailorder) earlier this year because I canât trust wher I bought them last year to have them this year. Now I need to remember to hand the calendars off at Thanksgiving to the kids. I ask for the empty jars back when they are done with them.
Going to World Market and buying a buncha stuff we donât need is part of our annual holiday tradition. Bring it on!
