I received these 2 Sunvivi dough mixers from Amazon as a result of not being able to cancel the first one. As it turned out, serendipitously, the one I attempted to cancel is the better choice for me. The reason I wanted to cancel it was the fact that the dough “hook” had a colored plated finish and was subject to peeling. The one I received has a forged aluminum one, so all good. The first one pictured has several functions, scale, timer, mix and ferment. The ferment cycle also gently heats the bowl, if you do not wish heat, the timer function will do the job.
I was very impressed with the ability to knead 100g of flour, a really small quantity, I made two rolls. The manual indicated 300g - 1600g. The base is small enough to fit in a kitchen drawer, however, the bowl is a major size as it’s wider than my 5qt Kitchen Aid. In the next few days, I hope to try a sticky brioche dough and see how it handles it.
Review of the taller model whose motor is offset , in the next few days.
Looking forward to your opinions. New toys are fun!
Im already prejudiced due to the fact the one has a scale and the base fits in a drawer with ease. They are very, very quiet.
Challah/egg 6 braid, baked in a loaf pan. Very happy the way the dough mixer worked, left the bread in the bowl to ferment , then did 2 quick mixes, fifteen minutes apart in the bowl. this was in lieu of stretch and folds. This was made in the lower looking unit. The decibel rating was 72, and it emitted a low hum.
Now for the taller unit, I can’t say anything good about it. Very noisy, a high pitched whine, 85 decibels. The electronics were not user friendly, had repeated problems getting it into the functions modes. Also, the fermentation mode has designated timing which you have to cycle through to get the time you desire. And now for the cover…it does not have an opening in the center to make inclusions easy to add but the very worst part is it is now stuck closed with my sourdough inside it! There is also a difference in the bowl shape, the lower unit has two flanges on the side top which permits you to grasp it when taking off the cover, particularly, when it’s on the unit.
I have just contacted support and also put it into the garage to see if chilling it will help release the cover.
Also, I was inaccurate regarding the timer function on both machines, the timer only functions in the mix and fermentation modes.
Addendum…I was finally able to release the cover after several hours in the very cold garage. I think a vacuum had formed. This is getting returned tomorrow!
