Your favorite festive holiday cocktail

With the holiday party season upon us, I was thinking what libations to serve for our xmas eve soirée. We are currently between French 75’s (a pitcher ideally) or Coquito… although — why not both?

The French 75 pairs beautifully with the various seafoods we’ll be serving, whereas the Coquito is more of a dessert or dessert pairing — at least to my palate.

Of course, there’s always Kir Royale, visually appealing and classy — or a twist on the classic with pom liqueur instead of crème de cassis? :yum:

What do you like to serve to get the party started?

I don’t drink alcohol these days (25 years at the end of next month) so my aperitif options tend to be quite limited. I’m currently a fan of Crodino , produced by Campari. My two favourites arent available in the UK - Kas Bitters and San Pellegrino Cocktail - so remain holiday drinkies.

But, back to the booze …Mrs H is a big fan of a Kir Royale although, truth be told , she’s usually more than happy just to pour herself a glass of fizz and forget the mixology.

French 75 sounds great. For an aperitif I’d normally just get champagne, but will try this soon. Though it will be more boozy. The French 125 as mentioned in the comments also sounds wonderful, with cognac instead of gin.

I had a version of a French 75 with Mezcal before, that was also quite delicious.

I like Old Fashioned and had a nice holiday variation recently - Cranberry Old Fashioned

I’m lazy and just use a spoonful of cranberry sauce instead of messing with simple syrup. Mr Autumm isn’t a fan of cranberry typically but likes these

This is mine, I use Campari and prosecco. And I always have eggnog, usually with bourbon, this year I’m trying it with Kahlua.

Oh, I love the sound of that one, too! Looks like a week of cocktails starting with Festivus celebrations

I’ve had Glögg at the Swedish embassy back in my hometown. They always did a xmas shindig, where I was also first introduced to the beautiful St. Lucia ceremony.

First time I ate reindeer :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

And you can go ever further: Kir Imperial. Champagne and Chambord. :clinking_glasses:

We’re still a mulled wine household, though I have a couple of applejack-based cocktails to try.

Don’t overlook the Jack Rose, even though it’s not a holiday cocktail AFAIK. (And use lime juice).

Which reminds me that IKEA sells a non-alcoholic “mulled fruit” drink that’s very nice.

Thought I’d share the coquinito recipe my PIC used last winter. It’s really fab
