World Cup 2026 Home Cooking Thread

Are you planning any home cooked meals around the World Cup this year?

I dunno, maybe world peace cookies. (sarcasm intended)

I don’t watch the games (or any sports). The countries playing inspire my meal plans.

I’m close friends with an Arsenals and Azzuri fan. His enthusiasm spills over.

I shall, of course, be watching England’s matches - depending on what time they are being played. I won’t be watching if it’s the usual 8pm kickoff time on the west side of the Atlantic. Doubt it will impact on the cooking at Harters Hall.

My PIC’s a huge fan, but yeah… the game times are going to make it tricky for any of the usual, super-popular public viewing events at local beer gardens and pubs — which is grrrrrreat news for me bc IDGAF about any of it. Even less so now that it’s taking place in the US.

Boston is debating having last call at 3:00 a.m. from June 1st through August 31st to accommodate the FIFA WC attendees and events around 250th anniversary - up to each town/city. Oy.

And it looks like PA will allow establishments to stay open 2 additional hours during the WC period of time. And Kansas passed a bill allowing bars, restaurants and clubs to sell alcohol for almost 24 hours – between 6 a.m. and 5 a.m. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: (WHUT??? That could be a disaster!)

We are bracing for a complete nightmare in nyc  — I think I’m going to try to skip town for most of it, and maybe I’ll be inspired by this thread when I’m looking on from far away :joy:
