Winning flavor combinations

Couldn’t agree more. Simpler the precise pop of flavor the better I enjoy it.

Throw in some cucumber and you have the makings of a California Roll.

Now I want sushi…

Ditto. Sushi combos are some of the best examples!

Related to the condiment thread, the combination of miso and mayonnaise (especially Kewpie) is great. Can be used as a base for dressings and as a coating for chicken breasts or salmon fillets.

Here’s a recipe I’ve posted before that’s a winner!

Apologies if any of these were already listed:

Scallops-lemon-butter
Orange/lime-habanero (red onion)
Peanuts-dried red chiles-cumin (garlic)
Tomatillo-chipotle (or serrano)
Fresh tomato-salt (basil)
White anchovy-cultured butter (crusty bread)
Chevre (or triple cream brie)-sauteed mushroom (crusty bread, bonus points for a crisp Sav Blanc)

There is no rule against any repeats — in fact, there really aren’t any rules. Plus I actually find it interesting how many likes we all have in common (garlic/ginger, or lemon/rosemary, etc.)

I adore sautéed shrooms on top of good baguette with melted Taleggio on top. So I’ll add

mushrooms & cheese

And you’re right re: fresh tomatoes. They do need salt.

fresh COTC, good butter, sea salt
smoked salmon & horseradish
white asparagus & prosciutto
ham & peas
teawurst & cucumber

White beans and kalamata olives are a fave of mine. Rosemary optional but welcome

A now-closed nearby Japanese sushi restaurant with the boats circling the counter occasionally offered steak nigiri, making for a rarely found “surf-and-turf” sushi meal.
