Where to buy tinned fish in SF Bay Area

Where do people go in the Bay area to buy tinned fish with good selection (which goes far beyond just tuna) ? Spanish Table was our preferred place but their selection had shrunk significantly (as they mentioned due to large part the tariffs).

Tokyo Fish has a selection of mostly Japanese fish. Look in two places, the eastern wall midway through the store, and the shelves under the fish counter.

I think Berkeley Bowls have a few, not nearly as many as Tokyo Fish.

Of All Places in Berkeley has a good tined seafood section.

Market Hall Foods in Rockridge, across from the Rockridge BART station, has a bunch of higher end stuff.

Bernal Cutlery in the Mission has a selection of tinned fish, including some interesting Japanese ones that I haven’t tried yet.

Thanks a lot everybody - really good suggestions

Bernal Cutlery is what I was going to say as a surprising place for tinned fish. Decant (wine bar in SOMA in the original City Beer space) also has a pretty good selection, and select ones are on the menu there. I think you can probably just buy whatever and eat them there as well.

Not sure you would consider it “good” but World Market has a surprising variety. I recently saw this fishwife selection.

Here’s a link to what you can order in Vacaville. Can’t be sure it’s currently on the shelf.

At the Oregon Street Berkeley Bowl, they have the more usual assortment of various tinned fish in an aisle, and a small selection of higher-end stuff near the fish counter. And then, over by the fresh bread section on a corner shelf with some nicer condiments, there is also some other imported tinned fish, so it’s kind of scattered around.

I’m not particular. I just go to Costco.

Our latest haul.

That’s a paltry amount. Will you just go back next week for more, and is it always sardines?

I like a (much) larger variety of tins

In all seriousness, if I wanted a particular brand or style of tinned fish, I just use Amazon.

It’s often cheaper, and always easier, than going to a brick and mortar store.

Are there none you enjoy perusing? It’s pretty easy in Vacaville  Here, I prefer World Market to Costco, at least for some pantry stuff.

Online is obviously always an option but in that case I prefer Rainbow Tomatoes Garden for tinned fish

Perusing tinned fish?

I do enjoy perusing umeboshi and ume. Partly because of the free samples.

Yep! And other food and drinks. And they have all the Mutti tomato products, a variety of Pickapeppa sauces, and husbands favorite milk chocolate.

Is that at your local Costco?

LOL, no.

Usually at our local Chinese supermarket (like 99 Ranch, 168, etc.)
