Last night I had incredible cajun/creole food at Lee Esther’s (boudin balls, shrimp/crawfish etouffee and jambalaya) in Palmdale CA, of all places. One of the dishes had little cubes of tasso ham in it. I had forgotten how much flavor that adds. Does anyone know where I can buy it in San Francisco or the East Bay? Maybe Berkeley Bowl? Thanks.

You can probably get it by mail from Hebert’s in Maurice, LA, if Taylor’s at Swan’s Market in Oakland doesn’t stock it.

I get it shipped on ice from Teet’s in Ville Platte, LA. And I love to say “Ville Platte” with the proper accent.
