uff! please no.

My former ophthalmologist prided herself on being Scottish in practice (no pun intended), and suggested I get my glasses from Costco as they are reasonably-priced, so there I went. From their very limited selection I got a pair made. When I went to pick them up, the optician just handed them to me, with no attempt to see how they fit. I took them back to have them adjusted as they didn’t fit right. The optician just gave me a refund without making any attempt to get them to fit.

So I just went to my usual optician; more choice and more money, but he took the time to make them fit.

Wow, I can’t imagine any shop not working on fit. That’s horrible service. (Or, better said, that’s not service at all!)

I wonder if all Costco stores are so bad? (I have no experience of Costco opto shops).

My experiences at Costco have been uniformly good, with fittings on delivery.

Wow, very different from my Costco experiences in CA and VA. Big selection and very thorough fitting when the glasses were ready. Plus I take mine to the counter periodically to have them adjusted and cleaned - they are unfailingly nice

Thanks. I was wondering. Maybe BG’s store is just particularly poorly managed?

I was just going to add that. Glad I kept reading.

I don’t know about anyone else here, but lately in our household it’s been “who’s got the remote?” when those annoying political ads come on. TG for the mute button.

I’m best friends with my Mute button whenever I have regular TV on.

I order my contacts through Costco. Way cheaper ths anyone else. When I was at Wilmer a while ago for a problem, the optometrist told me that when she was in school, she worked at Costco, and she was really impressed with their work and the quality of their materials.

It’s just as bad on the radio. Each election season, like every year now!, I have to tune out or change radion stations.

This is why your phone can store and play music.

I got a new (to me) car last november. I still haven’t programmed more than NPR and one other station, because 99.9% of the time, I plug in my phone and just hit shuffle.

Living in among the bluest of blue states,
we have almost no political advertising pollution.
A blessing!

CA is pretty deep blue, and while I see very little state and national candidate ads (our actual competitive elections are the primaries), it is difficult to escape ads pro- and anti- the various propositions and referendums.

I tend to be deeply distrustful of direct democracy, because mostly, people are lazy and stupid and can easily be convinced that being cruel is somehow a societal necessity. But on the other hand, it’s often the only way around uniparty gerrymandered state legislatures that are deeply undemocratic and unrepresentative of their constituents. (See: all the red state pro choice votes that have recently passed. Also, weed and other drug decriminalization and legalization)

I mean, CA’s voter referendum system came into being because at one point our legislature was more or less wholly owned by the railroad barons.
