What's on your mind? (2024)

Is that a human standing on the other side of that fallen tree?

I don’t see anyone.
I’d estimate those trees are about 4’ or so based on the wagon size.

Just to the right of the flower pots? Carhartt pants and boots?
Poor wagon.

YIKES! That’s a big-ass tree that got uprooted! I hope everyone remains safe.

I enlarged on my work screen - not sure what it is, but doesn’t look to be human.

Thanks! I see a pair of lower legs.
I hope they’re safe!

We’re getting the southern edge of this thing here in Sacramento over the next few days. We got everything in the garage up off the ground or in a plastic tub, just in case of some low level flooding.

Just a weird angle, I guess. Hard to see any shoes.

Definitely legs from just below the knee. Not pants, though, but look like overalls/coveralls or maybe gaiters with partial zippers to slip over a boot/shoe.

I see legs in coveralls and a shoe. If you go straight up the tree trunk it looks like the very tip top of a head.

Husband thought it might be the guy making this cut on the tree.

Yesterday our neighbor saw us working on a tedious project in the yard (digging out invasive sumac) and bought us treats!

A few freshly baked cookies for us humans. Cheese for the dog.

I’m using moments like this to remind me that good stuff can still happen.

Gratuitous photo of our dog keeping watch near the old apple tree while we worked, out of frame.

don’t touch the apple tree. That’s his post office.

Yep, that apple tree will fall before we take it down (love the old trees). The squirrels nest in taller trees nearby. Miss Biscuit will keep vigil for hours waiting for one to climb down.

Squirrels are onto her ways.

Way to go, showing the kinder, gentler side of humanity. :hugs:

For a variety of reasons, I’m seriously thinking of giving up on living here in Las Vegas or Southern California and have decided to look elsewhere for work and a place to start a new life.

For now, I’d like to look between the Philadelphia to Boston corridor (sometimes referred to as the NE Corridor). As someone born there, NYC would be wonderful, but I can’t imagine I’d be able to make enough money to live there.

I was a travel agent for 20 years and taught English for the same number of years as well. I’m fully fluent in written & spoken Japanese and many Japanese people have told me that on the phone, they can’t even tell I’m a foreigner. My ability in Japanese is by far my biggest attribute, but unfortunately I don’t have a degree in it and only have an associate degree in Marketing and Distribution.

If anyone here knows of a job that I might be qualified for, I’d truly appreciate any leads. Please feel free to send me a DM.

By the way, I’m choosing to post this under “What’s on your mind?” rather than starting a new topic because well, it’s the #1 thing on my mind.

Thank you in advance.
