BlueSky is getting a huge influx of people I used to try to read on Twitter - I used to use Nitter instances; they’re all gone. You can use xcancel.com , but a whole bunch of accounts have gone over to BlueSky. Threads is Meta, so that presents its own issues.
I’ve been enjoying my experience on BlueSky. I deactivated my Twitter. I enjoy the lack of algorithm and “trending” nonsense. What you see is entirely based on who you follow.
When Bluesky launched, I started posting over there. I keep a Twitter account in case I need to read something, but I’ve never used that platform much, even before it became a cesspool.

You can read using xcancel.com/ <—twitter handle here. You can’t post, of course, but reading works fine and Elon gets no info.
I just learned that the skin side of cod fillets can have a tough section that needs to be trimmed off or that area of the fish will be tough: https://youtu.be/ldCxxBV3xBg?si=LAwQcn_cHTJLTFum
Kind of like fish silverskin.
Thank you for sharing this find!
I experienced the weird tough cod on two tail portions and wondered what the heck was up!
Interesting. I will remove that dark part from some fish where the flavor is a lot stronger, or someone won’t eat it (eg salmon) but I didn’t know about the texture impact.
Thank you!
Just returned from a three week trip to Taiwan.
Got on the scale this morning. The reading: Weight is heavier than previous, is it yours?
Answer: yes
It should ask if you’re carrying something.
Answer: same as I told SFO immigration officer.
just a couple of confections. Dat’s all.
Got a email notice of home insurance cancelation for lack of payment. WHAATTTT !!! . Imediate Tasmanian devil tailspin .
The first representative was not helpful. ITS ON YOUR END I COMMENTED LOUDLY .
Spent a hour and a half combing and documenting emails and bank transactions.
Called back to another representative. She was nice . Put me on hold . Came back and said . Its on our end . Oh thank you I said. I just chugged that glass of wine. Meanwhile dinner in the oven.
I had something similar happen to me many years ago. My agent was a complete jerk about the whole thing, and my check had cleared the bank. They just couldn’t find where they had applied the money.
When it was finally determined what had happened and they had made the mistake, I requested a new agent.
These insurance companies never want to admit when they screw up and have actually received the funds.
I’d be all over the pizza and calzone. Yum.
We have a place in the boonz that just advertised their holiday calzone: mashed, gravy & turkey inside, cranberry sauce etc. to go with.
Not for me, but it’s clearly popular.
We recently tried to remove a vehicle from our auto insurance. We sold the vehicle and are no longer in possession of it.
There is just about 3 months left on our policy (we pay annually for our 'fleet). The agent said that it will be an $85 charge to do that. “No credit?”, says I. I couldn’t get this concept through to the agent. So I said, “never mind” and thanked him for his help.
Two weeks later, a refund check for $45 arrives. Huh?
I’ve been with CSAA for over 40 years without any problems.
I tell ya…
When I owned a sandwich shop our most popular sandwich on Black Friday was the Turkey Trot - named after a very popular 5k run through our town - turkey breast, cheddar cheese, cranberry-mayo, lettuce and tomato on a hard roll, I liked mine with an extra dollop of dijon mustard. We had other turkey-centric sandwiches also named after local icons including The Benny, The Breakers, The Flood, The Surfside, and The Sandbar.
