What's on your mind? (2024)

My father was a HS teacher for German and music, and a terrible language snob — as was my mom. Both enjoyed making fun of folks behind their back for their alleged lack of education/knowledge. It took me decades to recognize this behavior for what it is: personal insecurity.

It’s a small mind that relishes in its perceived superiority over others, especially when it’s something as meaningless as this.

Ya got me!!

Yesterday we got out for a walk in town-owned woods, where most of the walkers are people with nice dogs. It had been awhile, and dogs we’ve regularly seen in the past greeted us and our pup like long-lost friends. Exactly what our souls needed.

Cleaned the gutters toay .
After making the great northern bean soup yesterday. I was really happy the way it turned out . I did forget to add my parmesian rind . I have decided to make some meatballs for pasta tonight. Its a good excuse to use the oven . I know what I’ll be having for dinner the rest of the week . Soup. , and spaghetti and meatballs.

I overnighted at a Marriott Courtyard last night. When I went downstairs this morning (masked) to get some coffee and toast, there was an entire college soccer team to greet me. Coughing. I hear you. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Keep everything crossed. Covid seeks out existing weaknesses and exploits them. I had Covid two-plus years ago, and had Paxlovid, etc, and the symptoms passed quickly. But, it attacked my heart (that had been causing me trouble), and I now have symptoms similar to those of long Covid (didn’t realize it was possible to be so very fatigued). I used to be a prolific baker, but that’s in the past now, hence no pictures posted of baking. I now live vicariously by ogling the stuff posted on this site.

I’ve had open heart surgery; therefore I don’t care if anyone stares at me and my mask. I’ll be the last mask standing - at least hopefully I’ll be standing. I hear you.

Wondering why I didn’t catch the cold that my son brought back from State College recently. Spouse and other son both did. Even the dog was sneezing for a few days. I also never tested positive for Covid. Go me.

I hear it is not so common

Evidently not.

Someone graded my road and it was almost like driving on pavement, however we are having an atmospheric river passing over tonight and tomorrow so it will probably all get washed away. Ah, such is life in the country.

I had my annual check up, today. Over the summer, I ate a little too much and needed to lose 15 pounds for this doctor’s appointment. I started really dieting hard in early September and made my goal, yesterday morning. 24 hours to spare.

I got a clean bill of health, now I’m going to go eat some potato chips. I’ve been really craving some salt and vinegar potato chips!!

Congratulations! And enjoy those chips
