Campanelle with Bolognese sauce
I am now taking a break from shopping and have now stopped for lunch. Reuben sandwich from a deli. The hot mustard isn’t very hot and I’m a lightweight when it comes to spicy food.
Yesterday we had Mezzi rigatoni one pot style. I used the tooth blade on the mandolin to shave in onions and cabbage which were sautéed in evoo., s /p/ seasonings. Added julienned carrots and microplaned garlic and a frozen sausage also microplaned into the pot. After a few minutes of sautéing, 3 c. chix broth brought to a boil, added the rigatoni and cooked until al dente, added slivered ham, a lot of minced basil and parsley. Topped if off with pecorino Romano. Quick and delicious.
I Dessert was a slice of hazelnut, coffee , chocolate cake.

seared a tuna steak, shredded it & made tuna salad subbing cucumber for the traditional celery. toasted multi-grain bread & made a tuna salad sandwich with sharp cheddar cheese.
File under airport food: a crappy California club with turkey, turkey bacon, flavorless tomato, brown avocado mush & and lettuce with brown edges I removed.
The cheddar we had requested to come with the sandwich was absent.
what’s the sauce?
so it was much overpriced as well then?
Soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger.
$17 + tax
Ack! I would be upset too. The deli i get my Friday lunches from use fresh veggies and the sandwiches are Dagwood sized for only $10. Inhope your dinner is better.
I hate ratty lettuce in sammiches and salads alike. If you can’t be bothered to pick out brown, slimy edges, maybe the food business isn’t a good fit
Dinner will be delish, if more leftovers
Smoked salmon corn chowder. Had a few 4 oz packages of smoked salmon hanging around in my freezer. Besides corn the veggies are potato, carrot, onion and cauliflowe and some dry white wine. Nice lunch with half english muffin. An addition of glass of wine would have been nice but maybe next time.
Fridge clear-out platter! Dal (red lentils and cumin), Cauliflower and potato curry, tandoori chicken, a couple of falafel, an avocado and a few slices of grilled aubergine - on top of brown basmati.
That avo looks perfectly ripe!
Chicken salad with diced apple, hb egg, shredded cheddar. Dressed with mayo mixed with a bit of mustard, omitting my usual stir in of dill relish. Enjoyed beside our favorite fancy bag salad (Sunflower Crisp), and cubed roasted butternut squash.
Do we have a “101 things to do with Rotisserie Chicken” discussion here on H.O.? I’m adding this variation to my own list; we really enjoyed it.
