What's for lunch? (2025)

Yup, that’s what I get, too. Hate the clamshell, love the contents.

I can live with the clam shell as opposed to plastic bags which really degrade salad makings…like arugula.

I just find it so wasteful, and it takes up so much more space in the garbage :frowning:

But the lettuce is bomb, for sure.

Yes it’s hard to breakdown for recycling, we grow lettuce in pots when the weather is mild. Very farm to table :joy:, only a scissor involved.

The Popeyes flounder sandwich is back again, and I had one. It was much saltier than I remember, and seemed smaller, too. No photo because it was ugly–too smushed from the wrapper.

Hooray!

Boo!

Lunch at Fat Olives, a brasserie style restaurant in a tiny former fisherman’s cottage in the Hampshire coastal village of Emsworth.

Warm, freshly baked bread and fat olives while waiting:

To start: Charred Bream, Sweet Pickled Fennel, Miso, Spring Onion Dressing

Main: Braised Ox Cheek, Black Cardamom, Smoked Tomato, Mushroom Sauce. The ox cheek was falling apart in strands at the nudge of a fork. Kale on the side - nicely steamed to optimal tenderness.

To finish: Dark Chocolate Bavarois, Rhubarb, Hazelnut Crumb

Phew. I need a lie down now.

The owner let us try a new hot sauce he made, as he was all out of the berry hot sauce.

This was Scotch Bonnet based and had a nice kick to it, but not nearly as much as the other one. I asked him about the name, bc to me it read as “Fire Bum.” It’s “Fire Burn.”

I picked up a taco flight & a chicken quesadilla for one of my gal pals who couldn’t join us today bc she had hand surgery & can’t drive. She was a happy camper & has food for the weekend — those 'dillas are big

:joy: - I read that hot sauce label as ‘Fire Bum’ as well! I thought it might be quite an apt name as in the UK bum is slang for butt.

I know

I think it’s a better name, depending on how your gut deals with hot sauce!

What grinder and stuffer are you using ?

I didn’t use a grinder for this, just ground pork, though I do have a Kitchenaid stand mixer metal grinder attachment. The stuffer is a LEM 5lb sausage stuffer, I don’t use it very often but it works pretty well:
