Beautiful ChristinaM!
Sesame scallion ginger pork sausage from the posh butcher and jasmine rice with sautéed shiitakes and peas, sausage drippings drizzled over top. There’s enough of the rice mixture, plus a bit of leftover hot Italian sausage from another meal, to make a good lunch tomorrow with a fried egg on top.
I wish we had a posh butcher who made sausages like that! And I’m not big on rice, but yours looks delicious
After a reasonably busy work day we opted for a lazy dinner of take-out sushi plus my first attempt at spinach salad with goma-ae. This was also pretty lazy bc I saw a sesame/miso sauce at the Asian grocer when I was picking up bok choy for a hot pot night this week & just used that plus a sprinkle of sesame seeds. I found the sauce a little too sweet, so will make my own next time. The spinach was nice & tender, but I probably coulda pulled it a min or two earlier.
As for the sushi, we got 4 nigiri each of med-fatty toro and salmon belly,
a rainbow roll
and escolar, yellowtail & Japanese red snapper sashimi.
Spinach in a messy bowl
ETA: Botanist martinis for dessert. Since it’s Martini Monday
A piece of sourdough toast with cheddar cheese. Finance committee meeting for my HOA. Spouse reheated short ribs and polenta from last night.
I will trade my posh butcher for your gorgeous sushi purveyor!! That sushi is mouthwatering, especially the first nigiri pic! And your spinach salad looks great too.
I always enjoy hearing how leftovers will be repurposed.
Smoked-albacore tuna melt on a sourdough-spiked French loaf. Coleslaw.
Shallots, pickled cukes, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots and scallions from the garden.
It may have been steam…
Grilled chicken fajitas, poblanos and onions. Canned fat free refried beans he bought by mistake doctored with butter. Sour cream, avocado, lime crema. The dregs of a bag of tortilla chips. After a long weekend away came home to find my Spider “surprise !“ lily had bloomed and almost on its way out. Autumn is here.
“Finance committee meeting for my HOA.”
I live in rural Texas and zipping my lips on that comment.
Seared and roasted pork tenderloin with cranberry sauce sauce, roasted carrots and asparagus. Salad of red lettuce, onion, celery, Asian pear from the garden, pistachios, blue cheese, honey mustard dressing. Bourbon and cider.
Tonight’s dinner was a basa fillet with egg sauce and broccoli served over long grain-wild rice nce blend and corn on the cob.
First post in what seems like a million years. October has always been a busy month.
Curry chicken. Boneless skinless thighs, red bells, onion, diced green chilis. Basmati rice with peas. Naan not pictured.
Martini.
Lentil Chili sin Carne - red lentils, button mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, red pepper, kidney beans, onion, scallions, garlic, cumin, paprika cooked in a mixture of diced tomatoes and vegetable broth. Topped with some sour cream.
Nothing quite says chili like fungi!
Not even chili sin carne.
Well done sir, well done.
That is exactly how my aunt said potato. She was born in Chelsea MA and spent all her 70+ years there, first on one side of Route 1 and then on the other. The only time she lived anywhere else were summers spent in Revere. Thanks for the sweet memory.
My father’s father always said it that way as well. Born in MA (although I’m not sure where…I’ll have to look that up!), but lived in China in his adult life and retired in Newton, NJ (which is the only home I knew him from). It was always “pass the badadahs” so obviously you can take the man out of Massachusetts but can’t take Massachusetts out of the man.
Last night’s dinner was Cheese Filled Potato Hotteok made in the air fryer. This recipe is from “Aaron & Claire” on youtube. Beets on the side rounded out our meal. Sunshine likes her Potato Hotteok plain with no sauce or anything to dip them in. I put a little hot sauce on mine.
I know, if there’s no photo, it didn’t happen. My college boy came home for the long weekend and ate with us Sat-Mon. I tried to make some yums for him and give him a break from the ho-hum campus food. I made steak fajitas, a pulled smoked pork w/mustard bbq, and a blt-cobb salad (lettuce, tomato, cuke, onion, bell pepp, egg, bacon, blue cheese, balsamic). A homemade sourdough boule and an apple crisp. A spaghetti carbonara. I think that’s it! He’s going back today.
