I cannot support this, but you do you :joy:

They did not give me an Rx for that and I believe it’s because of the meds I take for Afib. I’m feeling more human today, but my mother is now sick and DH sounds like he’s headed our way.

Kin Khao https://www.kinkhao.com/ in SF really stands out for Thai restaurants - the only one in the US with a Michelin star - even though those stars have to be taken with a grain of salt for non-western places. But our first visit to Kin Khao really didn’t disappoint and it clearly showed why it stands out to any other Thai place - not your standard Thai dishes, no pick your sauce, pick your protein approach, no choice of heat level - just outstanding Thai food.

Mushroom hor mok - curry mousse in a jar with mushrooms, coconut cream, crispy rice cakes

Khao yum - Southern style turmeric rice salad, seasonal vegetables, sour fruits, herbs, crispy shallots, coconut + puffed rice, tamarind + black sesame dressing

Yaowaraj noodles - Bangkok chinatown stir-fried noodles, hodo soy tofu, green onions, cilantro, shiitake XO

Massaman nuea - braised beef cheeks in massaman curry, coconut milk, burnt + crispy shallots, potatoes

Stir-fried baby bok choy with garlic and light soy

Caramelized pork belly - sweet, savory, voluptuous pork belly cooked in a cast iron

Black rice pudding with banana, salty coconut cream, crispy rice, peanut, sesame praline

Coffee panna cotta, taro, coffee syrup, cream, espresso sea salt, toasted coconut flakes

My god, that all sounds and looks so good. I’m jealous.

I made Dominican pollo guisado yesterday and served it tonight after a rest in the fridge. I made chicken-fat brown rice in the IP and would do it again. In fact, I will, as there are leftovers for another meal.

No veg - forgot and it wasn’t needed. I had some at lunch.

ETA: corrected the link

Beat me to it! I love hor mok, and it’s a rare find on the menu.

We decided on pizza tonight so on the way home I ordered takeout from a newly opened pizza place. Not a chain. Upscale sounding menu. To be fair, I didn’t notice the “large” was only 12” and didn’t have time to check out reviews first. I paid $20 in cash, she handed me the pizza and left. I opened up the box to check it out and was too embarrassed to ask for my money back. Not only does it look like a frozen Totino’s pizza it tastes like one too. Ah well, Lesson learned.:slightly_smiling_face:

Tod Mun Pla “burgers” with sweet chilli sauce, adapted from Hot Thai Kitchen. Lots of sliced cucumbers. And, most importantly, leftovers for tomorrow’s dinner!

Have been craving Mom’s Lemon Pot Roast for awhile. Weather and stupidmarket sales finally synced. Got a 4 lb. boneless chuck roast at MB yesterday, so I had to adjust the seasonings up slightly, but it was perfect. Several servings for the freezer with lots of gravy.

Boiled and buttered potatoes and carrots alongside. Didn’t drain the veg as much as I should have before adding the butter, but still just the perfect side.

And wine.

Try it! Or at least try it “perfect” with sweet AND dry.

That’s disappointing. From here, though, it doesn’t look all that bad - I haven’t eaten in about 3 days!

Oof. Sorry this happened.

My sympathies!

That looks delicious. I bought a nicely marbled beef chuck roast for 7.99/lb when my mom first got here and DH cooked it with carrots, onions and potatoes in the pressure cooker. We’re all feeling lousy from Covid. The first night I was really sick, he heated up the leftovers for them for supper. We had stored it in a large white CorningWare casserole I’ve had for years. When I managed to get out to the kitchen today, the bottom of the casserole was scorched brown and black. I had no idea what he had done to it. He said he reheated everything on a burner on top of the stove. Married 43 years October 7th…

Fun party at a friends house (triple birthday celebration) with a STO Indian food catered by one of two Indian places in town. Took home some tandoori chicken & shredded the meat off the bones today for sammiches.

As for WFD tonight: two of the thick tuna steaks I’d picked up at the fishmonger a couple of weeks ago. Brushed with habanero kewpie and sesame seeds, then seared to MR. Blanched broc with black garlic miso butter on the side. I’d added the other half of the cherry pepper to the butter, but it didn’t bring much heat, unfortunately.

Not terrible for a pretty random concoction.

OMG, it really does, down to the squared-off sausage.

What’s that?

A “shit ton of” in the WFD vernacular. As in a STOB(utter) or, in this case, Indian food

Ouch on the scorched casserole. Some are just not cut out for cooking (or reheating, for that matter!)

But October 7th is still the BEST DAY EVER! I should know.
