What's for Dinner #9, 5/2016 - the "Don't Cast a Clout" edition

I’m finally pleased with my efforts at tomato bisque soup. Served with Catamount Hills (Cabot) grilled cheese on homemade bread. I love this cheese with tomato soup!

That could be a postcard for “comfort food”.

Looks that way! I love love love my chicken just like that! Beautiful

Like living with Bobby Flay - absolutely gorgeous! Your significant other must LOOOOVE you!

I was about to have myself a nice light salad, but looking over some of the food above - so much for that! Great, now I have to go make myself something like fried chicken or grilled cheese :stuck_out_tongue:

Late dinner - I was helping out a friend on the phone who’s going to be cooking dinner for some friends in a couple of days, and she wanted some ideas. Will be interested to see how she does.

So dinner was a quick one - lamb burger seasoned with some dried lemon zest, a pinch of salt, ground sumac, and Aleppo pepper, and cooked in skillet. Topped with caramelized onion on a toasted English muffin. Some sweet potato chips alongside. A couple of squares of chocolate for dessert.

You always use the best sounding seasonings. And we always use EMs for burgers. Nooks and crannies

After a beat down day . Looks like it’s a simple cheese omelet and a can of chili .

How about some chopped onions on that???

I did grab some purple onion out of the fridge , with one small zucchini , and a couple pieces of bacon that are going into the omelet . A beer and a hot shower works wonders .

I stopped off for a pumpernickle bagel on my way home, toasted half (it wasn’t warm, probably baked mid day) which i had with some borscht i had made the other day. Can’t wait for the long weekend- my mom is visiting!!

Well deserved. Enjoy!

@Acsss, Thanks. Don’t look at WFD thread when you’re hungry, or dinner is already planned. :pizza:

It’s “eat out night”. We’re going into the city. Yet another recentish opening majoring on Indian street food.

Pizza out last night. One margherita, one Richie (arabiata sauce, soppressatta, and fennel sausage). Delicious.

I make mine a bit different - without the peanut butter or sugar - but this is one of my favorite dishes

I never had octopus, only squid - and I’ve only eaten as battered calamari. I would never have the guts to order it like this - all I can say is wow!

@Naf, your octopus dish brilliant. Have you seen the prices on fancy restaurants’ menus for that kind of food (and plating)?!

My dinner today has no theme. I’ve been experimenting with my kombu kelp and dried shiitake mix thing. I pulverised a package of kombu and shiitake (separately) to make this mix. Marinated the lamb in it with fresh turmeric, fish sauce, and sherry. The colour turned out a bit odd (green from the kombu and yellow from the turmeric) but it tasted far better. Next time I shall try adding minced lemongrass.

And the asparagus needed some colour so I gave it a red one (fermented black beans and Sichuan chillis in oil from a jar).

I like parsley
