Sounds perfect. Miserable weather here near Philly too.
ETA: got our second wind and actually made a dinner. No photo though. Chinese chicken salad. I did the chopping and sweet talked H into making a salad dressing. It was romaine & arugula, scallions, bell pepp, orange, almond slivers, and leftover rotisserie. Hit the spot, and now I’m only behind one dinner!
Those are some gorgeous mussels!
We made whole Branzinos at my sister’s last night. Stuffed and rubbed with cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy, ume plum vinegar, sesame oil, then roasted. Topped with scallions, more ginger, and sliced lemons. Steamed asparagus in butter and soy, marinated cucumbers. Rice with a little butter and furikake. Fish overcooked a tad, and could have used a little more salt but that was easily repaired with more of the soy mixture. Delish fish!
OMG they look terrific! So plump.
If you’re up for making some, it’ll be fresher and way cheaper! There’s a thread about it here on HO.
Speaking from commiseration, that’s the absolute worst. Hope she’s better soon.
I’ve heard good things about Fly By Jing brand, but have never tried it.
I do remember them but can’t say I share your fondness. I have a nose for exaggeration and sensitivity to folks who seem to invent maladies and over-the-top meals for attention. In this case I think the alias is on the nose.
Whilst MOTHER is enjoying her day, FATHER has to do all the work and cooking!!
Exotic, spicy curry dinner tonight!
- Regular Malaysian Coconut Curry bone-in chicken
- Indonesian Beef-shank Rendang
- Paranakan Nyonya style curry chicken
What a feast! Holy!
We had reservations at our favorite fried chicken place, but I didn’t feel like a major meal, so we hit up a very popular Viet street food place nearby. Got the summer rolls with roast chicken (very good), crispy duck & bun bo hue. All good & cheap
Friday and Saturday night’s dinners: Orange Chicken (TJ’s) mixed fresh stir fried vegetable and jasmine rice. I love this dinner!
Pacific roasted red pepper and tomato soup, grilled cheese and salad. Tasty and perfect for a cool, rainy Saturday.
A friend dropped off dinner tonight - tofu peanut Buddha bowls. It was very tasty and even better, I didn’t have to make it. We’re mostly recovered and have probably exhausted our friends’ generosity
That looks great. I’m with you!
Had mom over for a late Mother’s Day lunch - roasted leg of lamb with roasted potatoes and asparagus. Lots of leftover lamb for other meals this week too!
Mr Frazzy and The Sprout cooked dinner tonight. They made one of my favorite dishes - Portuguese Carne de Porco à Alentejana/Braised Pork with Clams. As an extra they also made Gambas au Alho - Shrimp in Garlic Sauce. They were both amazing and I really appreciate the time and thought that went into dinner. I am one lucky mother.
I would eat this meal any day, any time of the year.
