What's for Dinner #70 - The "Kickoff to the Summertime BBQ" Edition - June 2021

I’ve seen and always walked by the Indian offerings at Costco, but I will pay more attention next time. We do get the TJs frozen Indian, and my fam seems to like them well enough. The dishes with meat and rice always seem to have an inordinate amount of extra water in the tray…

Check MM, BD, and MK websites for where they stock near you - the first two can be direct ordered from the company, but the MK fresh refrigerated sauce you’ll need to get nearby.

Never had this issue - the water tends to evaporate and/or reabsorb by the time the rice is done and has sat for a minute or two (always happens with frozen rice, and even when I make basmati stovetop).

As an aside, I wish they’d sell some of the indian entrees in a larger portion - like the chinese options in a 1lb bag.

It could be they don’t let it sit and reabsorb after the mike is done, but it happens to us everytime. I would say always at least a couple of tbsp of extra water the rice is sitting in… I will check those sauce brands - thank you.

Coconut cream :woman_facepalming:t2:

Why. Archana, why?! :joy:

Her salmon makhani calls for heavy cream. I wondered? The last time I made it was for vegans, so I did use the coconut cream and it was still very delicious.

I’ve wondered about that! I don’t go often, but I went a few weeks ago and made sure to ask about “simmer sauces”.

I take that back. I meant TJ’s.

We have neither in our town.

BD is on Amazon and both sell through their websites.

We used to do Instacart for Costco (for the fresh/refrigerated sauces from Maya Kaimal), in case you are in delivery radius for one somewhere around you. I don’t like the Maya Kaimal bottled (shelf stable) sauces but the rest of my family was less picky.
