Use it or lose it stir fry. Chicken tender, onion, garlic, ginger, mini bells, shishito peppers, mushrooms, snap peas, bok choy, peanut sauce, chili crisp, splash of chicken broth, green onions. Pickled carrot/daikon with cucumber. A Gibtini on the rocks.
Hello! And welcome to This Is What You Have in the House, Deal With It. One Brussels sprout. Half a portabello mushroom. A length of carrot. Potato kugel left over from a seder which was kind of a long time ago!
Edible! Not dead!
Tune in tomorrow, after I’ve been to the greenmarket and maybe bought some food, let’s see how that goes.
Fish and chips, black cod in a light and crispy batter (crisp from rice flour), somewhat overcooked L&W fries.
Picked up a insta pot for free . I have never used one . Had to you tube the instructions. LOL .
Great northern beans , lamb shank , and
vegetable soup.
Im really impressed with this little machine. Cheers.
A stunningly sunny & warm day in Happy Valley that began earlier than I prefer, after a restless night of sleep — probz in anticipation of my “early” morning duty of having to pick up a client at 10am, which is when I’m usually gearing up to do my various online puzzles & shnuggling Giacomo IN BED…..but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
The client actually had a stroke in my car on our last trip (no, my driving style was not the culprit
), which was only diagnosed after 2 separate hospital visits. Poor thing! Today she had to see another doctor about a pesky lung issue. Getting’ old sucketh the fetid one, for sure. While it helps with keeping my minor and major maladies in perspective, knowing that shit’s only getting worse isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. Too late for “live fast, die young,” but perhaps aiming for a happy medium is the way to go ![]()
I had to drop off a 24-hr urine collection at the lab myself today, and I bet they were extra-stoked about my decision to have asparagus last night

Our show went really well tonight
, with a few friends among an almost sold out room. My clarinet did not ask to crash with me, so my keys & bass and I got a nightcap at the brewery down the road.
My super-duper-late dinner was casa lingua “pizza,” id est a toasted slice of Aldi’s bistro bread with Havarti and Gouda melted on top, oregano, sliced shallot & Italian salami (also Aldi).
Better late than never!
Meanwhile, my PIC had a much nicer dinner with his conference crew at the fabulous Turkish place we discovered last time I joined him >shakes fist<
Nice Fish!!
Very Pretty!!
I remember it so well, it’s like I’m on the sofa again!
Those are beautiful tights. But you are right, they are way expensive. But we can enjoy looking.
Wasn’t that splashdown wonderful to watch. The sea was so calm, beautiful, and blue and the splashdown with the orange baloons. I was enthralled by it.
If you peep my recent post about them, they’re fake. I shouldn’t be surprised. The patterns looked just too perfect, and there were too many of them. The reviews are terrible.
Roasted asparagus, pancetta, and caramelized onion quiche with small knobs of grated Monterey and Pepper Jack cheeses, and some Gruyere thrown in for good measure.
A salad of chopped romaine, cherry tomatoes, and green onions with a buttermilk-peppercorn dressing.
There was wine.
First night home after Tampa and first time cooking in a week. I made roasted lemon-rosemary chicken pieces (that I previously broke down from a small chicken). Cooked over shallot, carrot, and yellow potato (and a handful of gnocchi) and the pan sauce slightly thickened with Wondra. Garlic-butter asparagus for green.
Dinner tonight was a cucumber tomato salad, linguine with zucchini and mint and some fudge and black currant tea.

A repeat of NYT’s Sopa Tarasca (spicy bean soup with chipotles and tomatoes). Served with fried tortilla chips, diced avocado, Spanish chorizo crumbles, and a heavily seasoned lime-habanero-yogurt crema.
Chorizo, pinto beans, poblano and extra sharp cheddar enchiladas. Corn, green onion, tomato salad, lime juice/oo dressing and cotija cheese. Bread and butter jalapenos. Sangria.
We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at Fiorentini, in Rutherford, NJ, including orrechietti with ramps, wild mushrooms, and gorgonzola; roasted cauliflower with truffle jus, black garlic and ramps; swordfish Milanese; porchetta panino with Calabrian chili; crispy risotto croquette; 24, 36, 60 month parmigiano reggiano risotto prepared in the risotto wheel; lamb skewers. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.
