one of my fave quick dishes is steak, prawns, and avocado, with ranch dressing… a few of the above dishes got me thinking lobster tails and steak will probably be a thing pretty soon - maybe with a poached egg, spinach, and hollandaise :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Oh, I’m aware how the cheese can be unwrapped. Wrapping it up again nicely and neatly after eating is the issue. It’s stupid.

My early afternoon show went well, despite head cold-related phlegmnants. Caught my friend’s performance afterwards and offered up our place for her to change for her evening gig, as she otherwise woulda made the drive out to her home in the boonz — roughly a 1.5 hour roundtrip :scream:

My PIC and I met up with our big city friends & a couple of others at our favorite watering hole downtown. It was hopping, but not too terribly crowded. The crowd for the 5k resolution run had just dispersed, reminding me of my own resolution not to run next year — unless someone is chasing me. Same as 2025 and previous years, TBH

After a week of sobriety I was worried that the first drink would knock us out, but we were in decent shape. I ordered the miso Caesar salad with brown butter panko, clearly having overlooked that it came with an abundance of edamame

Now, I do like sucking those mofos out of a fiery Sichuan-sauced hull, but they have absolutely no business in a Caesar. The romaine leaves were also left intact, which makes for a purtty presentation, but annoying to cut up. A little underdressed, too (but how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

We left around 10pm and took a buddy home for a nightcap, and actually made it past midnight!!!

HNY, HOs!

I was with you on the not very festive repast.

I’d planned crab cakes and shrimp, but was puttering around the house and just wasn’t hungry. Baked the crab cakes and ate them with my fingers. (Yes, apparently I’m 6.)

Had my 12 grapes at midnight (carefully!) And finished off the last of the sweets with a slice of cake.

Didn’t even open the bubbly…wasnt in the mood.

We have a ginormous bottle of bublé we initially bought for xmas eve. Might save it for a friend’s bday at this point.

Sunshine barely made it to midnight, then went to sleep. I stayed up until about 1:00am – just watching TV and playing on the internet.

We have a nice bottle of wine that was given to us (that we have been saving for a special occasion) but (similar to you) neither of us was in the mood to open it.

What a heartfelt way to honor your mom those little touches like grapes and mandarin really bring back memories.
That dinner looks delicious, and I love that you kept the tradition alive
