What's for Dinner #123 - the Start of the End of the Year Edition - November 2025

Rana lobster ravioli with creamy mushroom sauce. BLT salad with green onions and ranch. I was expecting a D***Dash delivery of chanterelles but that never happened so I used creminis. They were sauteed in oo and butter with shallots and garlic, a splash of wine, Boursin garlic & herb cheese, thinned with a little chicken broth. Parsley, of course. 'Twas delicious

What’s the name of the KFC place? I’ll have to check it out when I am there…I am a sucker for good KFC.

Simple dinner…classic filipino chicken adobo, rice and a salad.
Adobo is VERY popular here in Hawaii.

Hmm. The Rana website says they’re sold at several local Safeways. Hmm.

Little meatballs from yesterday, with fusilli corti bucati. It’s fun to see how the same sauce feels different on different pasta shapes. The cascatelli yesterday were coated, the little springs today pulled it into their folds.

Pelicana.

I used up the last of my potatoes in stock – and just in time as they were starting to go south. I made up a big batch of Gnocchi and froze about 75% of it for a later meal. Peas on the side was our vegetable (not pictured).

TJ’s squigglies again tonight - doctored up with Thai bird chilies, spicy Japanese yuzo kosho, garlicky sesame seeds, a squirt of mentaiko Kewpie mayo, a bit of creamy peanut butter, and lots of scallions, cilantro and kizami nori. Really good, but we’d had a work bday function at which i ate a ton of really great cheese/bread/prosecco, so i only ate a quarter of the pack. Leftovers for breakfast.

Too late to edit: There are more meatballs, so tomorrow with farfalle. Or maybe TJ’s squigglies…

Pork Cutlet with Garbanzo Salad - salad had garbanzo beans, arugula, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta and parsley with an olive oil- lime juice vinaigrette. The thin-cut pork cutlets were pan-seared with red onions, garlic and fresno chili and for the last few seconds sprinkled with parsley, basil and mint

They don’t taste like lobster.

But good?

Holy hell, that chicken looks AH-MAY-ZING!

It was quite good for a national (?) chain: krispy, kronchy, kicky, and not sweet at all, despite the website’s description. I didn’t have much of an appetite last night, so we have enough for another dinner

It’s near Trader Joe’s, next to Jimmy’s new Asian market

They were good, you taste a lot of ricotta cheese.
