Colossally shitty news today, in a year that (so far) holds the absolute record for shit news. And it ain’t over yet.
Still gotta eat.

An hour of work at the office for month-end (even though we were closed today); otherwise, a quiet day.
Dinner was decidedly non-Thanksgiving leftoverish: Bibigo pork & veg dumplings with Dumpling Daughter’s Spicy Sweet soy sauce as a dipping sauce, with a side of fried rice using leftover rice pilaf, and frozen peas and corn with chopped carrots, shallots and minced garlic.
There was wine.
Besides the delicious fried soft shell crab and fried shrimp cocktail leftovers from last night, Mrs. P made roasted figs with gorgonzola, toasted slivered almonds, reduced balsamic and hot honey to start, and roasted delicata squash, Andouille sausage, fried home grown sage, hot honey and reduced balsamic as a side dish. It all went great with an excellent cabernet. Mrs. P added chili crisps to the cocktail and horseradish cream sauce, to give it an extra kick.
we use a clove in each individual diamond of baklava when we make a big pan of baklava , helps keep the filo together with the rest of it
yum
Most of the places near us have them if they cater to a predominately Mexican/Latin American population. I have no idea what region they represent but whatever it is, I am happy.
Great news! So glad to hear Sunshine is healing well.
Thanks for the suggestion! They only had two cpaps at the sleep clinic that I could see - a nasal one and one that covers the nose and mouth. I have to use the latter since I am a mouth breather. They are less obtrusive now-a-days but I’ll keep the dental ones in mind if this one doesn’t work out.
Friday thanksgiving at my daughter’s house. Two of my contributions were the broccoli salad and corn soufflé. I also brought dairy free Boursin topped with fig preserves, pistachios, and hot honey.
The whole meal looks beautiful but the presentation of the charcuterie board is impressive.
Ooh. Sonething to look for!
My granddaughter’s handiwork. ![]()
Yeah. I didn’t know until I saw it at Trader Joe’s. It was very good.
You have a very talented granddaughter!
After the last emotionally exhausting 24 hours we had dinner unusually early: Thanksgiving leftovers, i.e. youvetsi, fasolakia, fennel salad.
Maybe some of my PIC’s orange & almond cake and/or Biscoff ice cream later.
I’ve not felt like putting that stupid berry sauce together, and I doubt I’ll feel like it today.
A half a pork tenderloin with a glaze of blood orange marmalade, white wine, and grated ginger. Parsleyed orzo cooked in chicken stock, and steamed asparagus.
Wine.
Pics of lap naps from Murphy in the a.m. (well, a chest cuddle from him) and Finnegan in the afternoon.
Thank you for mentioning what you don’t add!
I breathe much better with the dental thing and I am a mouth breather.
