What's for Dinner #123 - the Start of the End of the Year Edition - November 2025

A handful of “stewing pieces”, which wasn’t enough, so I added a lamb chop from the freezer.

It was, but it needed more sauce as the pasta soaked it up.

My plans to go to a matinée movie this afternoon got kaiboshed since the weatherman was predicting freezing rain for today. It was getting really dark out early this afternoon so I decided to curl up on the sofa with my novel and my crosswords and I spent a relaxing afternoon at home. I had a scallop curry for dinner. I heated up a little oil in a fry pan then sautéed a little onion until translucent the added some ginger and garlic. I added the coconut milk I had left in the fridge, brought it to a boil then reduced the temperature. I added scallops and let them simmer until done.I served it over udon noodles with sliced orange pepper and blanched green beans.

A leisurely day, with a trip to Petco for the eat, pee & poop machines. :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

Then Home Goods for holiday chocolates for coworkers. Will have to go back since they didn’t have their full stash out yet.

I have to-have-to-have to-HAVE TO use up my freezer stash. So TJ’s pork belly was defrosted and pan-seared and finished in the oven with a melted apricot jam, grated fresh ginger and sherry glaze.

Baby red potatoes roasted in the convection oven with olive oil, s/p and dried rosemary, and steamed asparagus.

There was a glass of wine with dinner.

And Finny got in a cuddle earlier in the afternoon when he realized Momma was in her chair with a blankie on her legs. That means Finnegan climbs under the blankie for a snoozealicious time.

I really should do that more often…

You left out “puke”.

But dinner looks great!

What?

Cater to the EPP Machines?
Go to Home Goods?
Use stuff in your freezer?

They’ve both been pretty good about NOT doing that for the past several months. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

We were invited over a friend’s for fire pit and dinner. I brought turkey chili and made mac and cheese. Another friend brought snap peas and pumpkin bread. My banana bars with cream cheese frosting for dessert. Host made a salad, ricotta meatballs in marinara, and s’mores. No pictures.

We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at Bistro D’Azur, in West Orange, NJ, including lamb shank; tile fish; duck confit salad; lobster crepe, and Spanish chips. It all went great with a couple of excellent red blends.

Turkey burger and red potatoes with a scant amount of mushroom gravy made with Boursin cheese. Could’ve used twice as much gravy but it would’ve put me over my sodium allotment.

Old style chicken paprika, this time with cremini slices and V-8 juice. Served over pappardelle with roasted delicata and half of an accorn squash. The othe half was fading fast. It was ‘pantry clean out day’. Multiple grocery bags made up for the food bank and the DIL. Lots went to the trash–rancid flours and a questionable package of lard. Tomorrow will be partially dedicated to cleaning out the garage freezer.

Tonight’s dinner was a suggestion from @biondanonima
Creamed hard boiled eggs over toast, I added some chopped broccoli and shredded cheddar cheese. Really good!! Both Sunshine and I really enjoyed this dish!

Thank you @biondanonima !!
