Super early bird dinner as I have to be up super early tomorrow(3:30am) for a flight to FLA, so this meant takeout, and I just happened to have a few winning Monopoly “tickets” from Mcd’s that I had to cash in.
Cheeseburger/orange soda and something they call a Mc Pop(a donut?) were free, the Filet o fish and fries weren’t. Hit the spot I guess and no dishes or clean up, which is a win any day of the week.
OMG, that IS early. Yoikes. Happy travels & look forward to your FL dining adventures.
Have some rock shrimp for me!

7:30 am flight, gotta be there at least 2 hours before. And of course they swapped planes at the last minute, so our upgraded seats are no longer available. ![]()
Boo hiss.
Just think of all the gator bites in your future. Or iguana, amirite, @Sunshine842? ![]()
Right? I can buy gator at the grocery…nearly anywhere.
Having watched a YT about iguana…Im happy to try it but its a LOT of work.
Leftover mojo pulled pork was reimagined as a filling in Vietnamese-American soft tacos with pickled carrot and radish, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, Sriracha, and hoisin sauce. I made the tortillas from scratch and they were decent for a first go. Served myself the ugliest of the batch.
Slow day on the road, despite pretty frosty temps, a few snow flurries, and a stiff breeze ![]()
Winter hath dolphinately arriveth.
Dinner was therefore a warming & comforting affair of TJ’s creamy tomato soup pimped with the Rana cheese torts that had not randomly decided to mold long before their use-by date
, plus spinach for that extra veg portion.
I also made some basil oil to drizzle over the top / mix in.
I was all out of my fancy citrus oil for my favorite arugula salad, and debated making my own by steeping lemon peels in hot olive oil….. but one of the major things that vinaigrette has going for it is its ease, and I also didn’t have an abundance of lemons = lemon peel in the house. The Cheese Shoppe (sic) downtown allegedly carries it, but they were closed today, and so lemon juice & zest had to do the heavy lifting on the citrus front tonight. 'twerked ![]()
Those look so delicious to me!
Vietnamese tacos are a brilliant idea! And even the mis-shapen ones look really good to me.
I always think of Miley Cyrus when this word is used ![]()
It was a cool dreary day today especially after the dumping of snow we got yesterday. The dal I had for dinner really hit the spot. Included is a gratuitous picture I took during my lunch time walk today.
The dal looks great, and those leftovers are like money/timein the bank. So comforting! Your future self will thank you!
I’d throw out my back if I even attempted twerking ![]()
I already have one serving set aside to heat up for dinner tomorrow night. I have a painting class tomorrow night so if I go I won’t have time to eat before class so I can heat up leftovers when I get home. I have the day off tomorrow since it’s Remembrance Day in Canada so I have the day off. I’m contemplating a museum visit tomorrow afternoon so even if I decide to go to the museum instead I will still appreciate the leftovers.
True, True, True!
Jerusalem is one of my absolute favorite cookbooks! I am notorious for preparing “mixed” meals.
NYT’s chicken and mushroom stew, with more veg and herbs than poultry. I brown the chicken first (and reserve) before proceeding with the rest of the recipe. Unless it’s summer, I never have the green beans. I’ve made it more than once - good stuff.
hope you might luck out with an upgrade tomorrow morning . it happens sometimes
Romaine, carrots, cucumber, avocado, red apple, cottage cheese, hbe, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds dressed with honey mustard.
Beans & greens & egg. It’s likely to freeze tonight, so I took in the last of the balcony chard, sorrel and kale. And probably the last of the parsley as well, but it might be immortal.
Honey Garlic Chicken over basmati rice, with chicken broth, leek, shallot and carrot. Parsley. Savoy and red cabbage, kale, celery, apple, hazelnut slaw, creamy sweet and sour dressing.
