Dehydrated heavy cream?
The last of the tomato-chicken sauce I made for giouvetsi, with whole wheat spaghetti and TPSL of cheese (kaseri and romano).
Holy cow. It hasnt been below 75 here in months. Its 77 with 75% humidity at 7 am.
I added lightly salted roasted cashews and Sriracha to the leftovers, and thought it was much better.
Lamb stew last night. I had leftover blade chop meat from last week, and lamb neckbones were on sale yesterday (and weren’t as stingily over-trimmed like they usually are). Rounded out with onions, garlic, baby taters, carrots and mushrooms.
Going to take some to my daughter’s family when I go babysit this afternoon.
No pic because I often forget, and anyway, stew just looks like a bowl full of mud with some carrots peeking out of it.
I ignore them, simply because they are not expiration dates. The dates indicate the foodstuffs are at their very best quality up until that date, then the quality starts slowly decreasing. If it is frozen, the quality date is extended somewhat.
Agree with you, but swap it for enjoy Root Beer and despise Dr. Pepper.
Hoorah and huzzah to personal preferences!
The usual.
Romain/roasted pork tenderloin/cocktail tomatoes/cucumber/pickled onion/homemade Asiago cheese bread croutons/Parm Regg. Lemon, Dijon, anchovy dressing.
Best dinner I have made in ages. NYT Ali Slagle Crispy Baked Fish with Tartar Sauce (deets on COTM thread). Butter-braised baby vates kale from farmers market - not the same animal as clam shell baby kale - bought a large bag and kicking myself for not buying two. FM cherry tomatoes.
ETA: I somehow forgot I had a starter of local bluefin toro. Looks sinewy but was tender and delicious.
He needs to eat a little bit lighter for the time being and I’m happy to oblige. Stuffed mushrooms with sautéed spinach, onion, garlic, s&p in olive olive. Topped with Panko. I had black eye peas and sausage from the freezer. I might get with the program one of these days but it won’t be anytime soon.
Very nice-looking baked stuffed mushrooms!!
I am SO enjoying my time off. Today was mostly errands, but done on MY time vs after work or on weekends.
I repotted some late summer/early fall plants for some deck railing color.
I made some pork stock from pork bones in the freezer.
Dinner was a medium-rare Wegmans brisket and chuck cheeseburger with caramelized onions on a lightly toasted brioche bun (ketchup on the bottom bun). Potato chips and a vine tomato, mozzarella, and deck basil salad with a balsamic/olive oil/pepper vinaigrette.
There was wine.
And the last of the figs with goat cheese, peppered honey and a sprinkle of chopped pistachios.
It was work-in-the-office day today. It was also CSA pickup day. It was also the day we got an entire summer’s worth of rain in one afternoon (and it’s still raining out). I walked from the office to Whole Foods which would take about 45 to 50 minutes if I walked straight there however today it took 90 minutes since I was drifting in and out of stores and a stop to pick up my CSA veggies. I had intended to walk home too (another 35 minutes) but by this time I was SOAKED and cold so I threw in the towel and took the bus. When I got home I was grateful to have one last serving of gnocchi in a tomato spinach sauce that I made a few weeks ago. I had a salad of chopped tomato and cucumber on the side. I should be warm by next week
Gorgeous! I have been meaning to make a summer minestrone, must get on it. P.S. - that lemon is right side up!!
Lol - ha! ha! Thank you!
lemon caper chicken thighs, hillbilly beans, and squash from the garden.
Also, potato salad made with new potatoes, mayo, pickles, and dill.
