We’ll stay till Sat & get as much beach time in as possible, with either very early dinners (like yours ) or very late lunches & a snack at home that doesn’t require much of any cooking. As attractive as the outdoor BBQ idea is, I’m not lighting up a bunch of branches to grill some fish.
Sat we move to a nice hotel in Ortigia, so we can pay for two places at the same time
One reason I didn’t want to return to Sicily was how absolutely perfect our seat-of-the-pants trip last summer was. Hard to beat the Best Day of 2024 (and counting!). But Sardinia turned out to be a major hassle to get to, and at some point we had to make a decision.
We did have a gorgeous day at the beach today, so Ima happy camper #simplepleasures
If you do not live VERY close to where they are fished you are mush better off getting the cleaned and frozen that Amanda mentioned. They are available at some Japanese Markets and Seafood Stores.
The live ones die easily in shipment so are not usually as soft as they should be. They are allowed to start hardening before they are shipped in hopes of a better survival rate.
Here on the West Coast I have never seen Soft Shell Crabs live that were not “leathery/ tough” which is not very nice.
I lost 160 pounds simply using portion control. It took a year, but I persevered. Also, ate all of the foods I wanted. Those kinds of diets that eliminate foods never worked for me. But the portion control one did. That has been several years ago and I have maintained the weight.
Portion control really and not removing anything from your diet that you like really does work better than any other kind of diet for many people.
My doctor told me a few years ago that’s why a lot of “fad” diets seem to fail - you have to cut out certain foods to lose the weight, which the dieter succeeds in doing, but when the diet is over they go back to their old eating habits and gain the weight back.

It’s been ages since I’ve had a good sushi pig out, and pig out I did.
Went to a sushi joint that I’ve walked by a million times, but never tried. Just a short 10 min walk from the crib. Husband and wife team, so nice and such a cute little spot.
Got the 'Super Bento" which included a small miso soup, salad and the bento box with all the trimmings. Also got a spicy tuna roll maki, because I wasn’t sure how big the bento would be. It was plenty big. Good sushi for the price, $30 CAD(+tip) for the whole thing.
I shall return.
Made Melissa Clark’s Creamy Corn Pasta with Basil using some fresh-frozen corn from last summer and campagnelle pasta. Didn’t have enough green onions, so I used some chives, and didn’t use the RPF but added more black pepper. Pretty good!
Stopped on the way home from Atlanta last week and bought a box of peaches.
So dessert is warm peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla. (Walmart’s Bettergoods brand of non-dairy ice cream is one of the better vanillas on the market)Processing: 17490858769394076005934000801305.jpg…

I was out late getting groceries (ouch!$), so dinner was simply leftover chicken sausage ragu with ww spaghetti, leftover crudite, and steamed broccoli with oat milk butter.
