Tonight’s dinner was a simple meat & potatoes meal. Breaded beef liver, mashed potatoes with gravy and peas.
The breading looks pretty perfect
Thank you…
Last night, I grazed.
Forgot I had marinated chicken thighs for malai kabab, so I cooked that and then had a kathi roll using it — the last ww tortilla, egg coating, zhoug for green chutney, quick pickled red onions, and the chicken malai kabab, rolled up and griddled to finish.
A bit later, I had some rice, the last of the dal fry from a few days ago, and salmon bharta inspired by @Amandarama a few days ago.

Tonight, I picked up dinner for friends from one of New York’s Chinatowns. Mix and match of things I thought they’d like and would make a proper dinner.
We had:
— Roast pork cheung fun / rice rolls
— Pork and chive dumplings
— Flat noodles in peanut sauce
— Stewed duck Chaozhou / Teochow style
— Mixed vegetables with vermicelli
— Double sautéed pork belly with cabbage and peppers
— Fried rice
— Japanese-style cheesecake
It was good that it was a long evening, so we could snack on the apps before we started a movie (made by one of my cousins, side excitement), then took an intermission to eat dinner properly at the table, and nibbled on dessert as we finished the movie.
No photo of the cheesecake? I love that stuff!
I know right! We were ready to get back into the movie and I forgot.
It was a slim rectangle, different shape than I’ve seen before. Very light, just sweet enough. I’ll get some again next week and post a pic!
I much prefer Japanese Cheesecake and Basque Cheesecake.
Basque is kind of the opposite — dense, rich.
I enjoy a little bite of most cheesecakes, each in their place. More than a bite or two and it’s overkill for me.
I want to eat all of that!
Looks great
I like most cheesecakes, too.
7 11 in Japan has Basque Cheesecakes that are personal sized, smaller than an cupcake. I like that size
Junior’s has a mini cheesecake roughly that size which I sometimes get after a Broadway show.
There’s also a Pablo Japanese cheese tart here in Toronto that has a small size. Do you have Pablo in NYC? It’s pretty good.
Quick stew with chicken breast, ham, kielbasa, shrimp, bell peppers, celery, onion, garlic, jalapeno, pineapple, tomatoes and ground cloves. Served over rice
Yes!! I might ass a dab of horseradish. then again, it’s perfect as is!!
thanks for moving this for me!
gorgeous! i’ll have to look that one up, its sounds delicious.
That sounds supremely uncomfortable
Did it again. Typing on an iPad screen is almost as bad as typing on an iPhone screen. And dictation is surprisingly bad, too. Oh well.
We lived in the Eifel Mountains, such a lovely area of Germany. I have not had spargel, nor seen it offered in any supermarket since returned to the States.
I used to ride horses in the Eifel, as I grew up in the Rhineland. Beautiful area, great wines.
