What's For Dinner #118 - the Pollen Is Covering Everything! Edition - May 2025

The weather still leaves a LOT to be desired, but the dark clouds parted briefly for us — just in time to meet up with the Welshman & show him our favorite market, where we had a lovely lunch of grilled fish, picked up moar bread & fixins for tonight’s mezzedes meal to snack on while watching the epic schlockfest that is the ESC aka Eurovision Song Contest*: gigantes, dolmades, a scallion spread; Greek feta, fabulous Turkish cukes & date tomatoes for a xoriatiki, and a nice big pide to sop it all up. The Greek feta was unexpectedly creamy and pretty much disintegrated into the salad. Not my favorite.

Besides that, we also had plenty of Taleggio & other cheeses left, plus a slice of a Basque terrine we grabbed at a fancy French place in the market hall near us. Dubai chocolate from the baklava place for dessert. Nobody went to bed hungry

*If you’ve not watched Song of Fire with Will Ferrell, it’s pretty damn close to the actual annual campy-to-the-max event that assembles the most untalented exhibitionists in all of Europe for our listening “pleasure.”
