And it would be absolutely worth it :slightly_smiling_face:

It looks great. Those sandwiches - yum - and I don’t even like sandwiches.

Love lime and honey together. I like the idea of it with cukes, maybe with a pinch of Aleppo pepper.

Yeah, I think I’d like this! And the scallops, chicken, and financier are also right up my alley!

A peppery element would be nice here. Chili oil? I figured with the chili shrimp I wouldn’t heat up the dressing - looking for a cool-down, if anything!

It was a meatloaf kinda day.

So I smushed together 3/4 lb ground beef, 1/2 lb ground pork, and a Wegmans chuck and brisket burger (because I wanted a bit more beef in the mix) with an egg, 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, s/p, and and herbed panko mix (probably a half cup). I added about 2 Tbsp of caramelized onions to the middle of the loaf, and it went into an open pan (to get more crispy edges AND to release the fat more easily), sprinkled it with paprika and into a 350° oven for about 1 hr, 15 min, draining the fat halfway through but spooning a bit over top.

The slice was served with more of the tomato jam from last night (forgot how much I liked this stuff!), steamed rosemary-buttered baby potatoes, and peas and corn with dried savory.

There was wine.

Wet stormy night. Hotel happy hour food is WFD. :umbrella:

It is HAPPY HOUR (or two).

wow, that meatloaf looks fantastic and so appealing. And I’m not a big fan of beef! Tomato jam sounds so much tastier than ketchup. I’m been thinking of a meat loaf before it gets warmer (35 degrees and cold rain tonight makes me wish I had planned it for tonight).

Beige but tasty: garlic confit sausage from the posh butcher, braised endive, toasted sourdough ciabatta baguette with TPSTOB.

Dinner party! We were overdue on our turn to host two other couples and their kids. It’s a little intimidating cooking for that many people! We do sort-of potluck so nobody feels too put out.

We had:

Lion’s Tail cocktail w/ginger simple syrup

Tortilla chips w/guac - made by friend

Plantain chips w/pineapple salsa (I added minced bell pepper.)

Veg platter w/Penzey’s horseradish dip

Terra root veg chips

Strawberries

Purchased Jamaican patties (mild and spicy)

Red Stripe beer, Austrian Grüner Veltliner, bourbon, aged rum, tropical mixers, N/A bubbly, ginger beer, grapefruit soda

Cook’s Country’s grilled easy jerk chicken

Grilled chicken tenders w/ BBQ sauce (for the kids)

Mango slaw w/ red cabbage and Tajín

Grilled pineapple

Jamaican steamed cabbage (sleeper hit!)

Mac n cheese - made by friend

Chocolate cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting - friend brought

Decaf espresso, homemade Italian amaro

Wagyu beef NY strip steak for two. The last of the leftover mac-and-cheese. Salad greens in vinaigrette. OMG! We’re stuffed! :yum:

The fried rice looks great! What are those red things with the gai lan?

Dry (reconstituted) dates. We add them to soups back home for a subtle sweet accent.

We celebrated our 14th anniversary with a sensational dinner at That Pasta Club (a pop up restaurant inside of an empanada shop after closing). We enjoyed an excellent scallop crudo; outstanding 45 day dry aged filet mignon; Kushiyaki with 50 day dry aged NY Strip; fantastic stuffed mussels; rigatoni amatriciani; Alaska king crab and taylor ham toast; shrimp scampi agnolotti; spinach salad; pineapple upside down cake; sourdough bread with stinging nettle butter; excellent chocolates with the check. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets. See menu at the end for further ingredient details.

Today was a DAY. And there’s still a few more additions coming to below. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to sit outside with a G & T, the temperature dropped 30 degrees! What was 85 whilst I was toiling away was 55 by Happy Hour and is now 43 as I type this.

Dinner:

Blistered broccolini. To snack on while I’m cooking.

Someone said Trader Joe’s Argentinian red shrimp tasted like lobster. The test: “lobster rolls”. VERY similar flavor and sweetness.

Not quite lobster but much more interesting than shrimp. Would buy again.

Martini INSIDE since an outside G & T was not happening. Fancy coupe since I wanted to steal last night’s.
