‘squozen’ love it!
From the freezer, leftover meatloaf and gravy. Mashed potatoes, butter, sour cream and green onion. Mixed greens salad, red onion, cauliflower, tomatoes from the garden, avocado, blue cheese dressing.
Pan-roasted Kurobuta bone-in pork chops with Penzeys’ Galina Street seasoning. Potato-and-apple gratin with sauteed leeks, gruyere, thyme, and pear brandy. Baby peas. Homemade applesauce.
Spuds, Honeycrisp and Fuji apples, leeks, and peas from the garden.
We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at The Farmer’s Daughter in Newton, NJ, including jumbo lump crab meat and langoustine scampi; pumpkin ravioli with apple, sage butter, and pecans; apple, blue cheese, and honey crostini; petite filet mignon with white truffle hollandaise, cheesy grits, and green beans. It all went great with a couple of excellent red blends.
In keeping with my “wonky” or “rustic” theme, I present my lop-sided Pepperoni Pizza. I should have cut off the extra dough, but instead rolled it up, which made a HUGE chunk of crust.
I picked up this small pack of pepperoni slices at the Dollar Tree. They were OK, but I won’t buy them again. Sunshine loves pizza – so no complaints from her.
I’m jealous… your pizza looks so much better than mine!!
Pizza Saturday. The weather is changing fast . Next week dark and cold . Bringing in the oven tomorrow out of the weather.
Season hiatus for a short time . Moving into soups , braises , and stews .
Base tomato . Topped with mozzarella , Chicken Boudin sausage , garden tomato , scallion , Calabrian oregano, and drizzled with hot honey .
Cheers .
It certainly does not! Anyway all pizza is beautiful, especially @John 's
No it doesn’t . Pizza must be fun not pretty . Continue on . Cheers
I wanted carbonara, but I was out of spaghetti. So, farfalle carbonara with previously sauteed chanterelles and a few pieces of leftover salmon.
@Desert-Dan you don’t give yourself enough credit! Everything you’ve made so far looks delicious.
Wow. WOW!!! The entire meal sounds and looks great, but this sounds amazing!
Poker with the gang at our buddy’s place. His GF had baked a gorgeous loaf of bread, and we had a few slices straight out of the oven with salted butter. Crusty! Fluffy!
Main was a tomato rice with black cod and snapper. An abundance of garlic & a touch of heat.
I lost my buy-in ($10), but hanging with friends was totes worth it
Hosting a YUGE potluck tonight, a bi-monthly-ish event for one of my local cooking groups. Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu!
Maybe next time, add some shredded mozzarella in a thin line before rolling up the edge, and you can have a stuffed crust pizza!
I like your idea… I should have cut it off and saved it for the morning.
Maybe roll it out thin, then add a little butter and cheese, bake it off & made Sunshine a cheesy breakfast crisp??
Thank you!!
thank you! It was very loosely based on this recipe from Yotam Ottolenghi for potato pie.
I’ve made the dish as written before - lovely, but a little fussy for a weeknight. Since I never serve the dish turned out, I’ve learned to skip the lining of the pan (thus skipping the potato starch). Here I used leftover sauteed leeks which were not fully caramelized (but that is an excellent addition), and put a few tablespoons of brandy straight into the gratin, along with a little chicken stock. I also forget to hold back a little cheese for the top, and put the whole load into the gratin. No harm done, but the topping would have been nice.
Looking forward to leftovers!
I will miss your pizza shows! Looking forward to your next seasional rotation.
