Since I had all ingredients on hand. Orecchiette, hot Italian sausage, aged provolone, Parmesan, chicken broth , spinach. And some cheese garlic bread
My favorite week night meal . Great leftovers.
Saute 5 pieces of bacon . Then one whole yellow onion cut up . White potatoes parboiled with carrots.
Tomato cut up with cabbage and into the dish . There is a whole Italian sausage buried in there . Salt , pepper , and some calabrian dried oregano. Cheers. Covered with foil and cooked for a hour at 400 degrees
Chanterelles again! (sorry Natascha), the white variety this time, sauteed, with haricots vert and roasted red pepper, to go with a “Italian olive” sausage.
The roomate is outta town for 36-48 hours so I got to have a sardine sandwich. He’s terribly allergic; sardine oil on the lips will put him in anaphylaxis—it is a very strange allergy, so when’s he’s away, I indulge.
Clear liquids tomorrow for another look-see on Wednesday. Thinking about what I wanna have after the tests are done. Oooey-gooey greasy cheesyburger with onion rings? Flautas?
Sushi, tempura and yakatori? Hummmmm.
I like it!
Please! Enjoy them for me
Big bowl of the lentil soup I made the other day.
A couple of dashes of hot sauce, some homemade croutons and a shower of Parm/Regg.
Good stuff

My decades of experience with brisket have taught me that the quality of the meat trumps even the most exquisite of recipes. I try to find prime (the Fresh Market near me often has manageable (like around 5 lbs) pieces, cryovaced.
My 5th and last night of Favorite Meals:
A great medium-rare bacon cheeseburger (Wegmans Angus chuck and brisket) with caramelized onions on a lightly toasted brioche bun, with LW fries and ketchup to dip.
A corn, CSA chopped tomato and red onion salad with the last tiny leaves of my deck basil. The vinaigrette was apple cider vinegar, olive oil, s/p, Dijon mustard and a tiny bit of honey.
Wine. Of course.
Back to work tomorrow. It’s been a nice 4-day weekend. I semi-dread what awaits in the morning.
Grilled corn and shrimp from the freezer. Sautéed some chopped onion, little peppers I had to use up with some smoked sausage. Seasoned the shrimp with creole seasoning. Jalapeño cheddar cornbread with plenty of butter. Not bad. Not bad at all.
A repeat of Sunday dinner. Leek and bacon tart. Tomato-basil soup with cheesy croutons and chili oil.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere & beers at Evil Genius Brewing Co. Sunday night & decided to watch the game there (who am I??), even though it’s a bit of a haul. We shared a flight of some good & some terrible beers plus kronchy Cheetos.
(extra bitter for him / hazy mango IPA for me (WHO AM I???)
Things didn’t look so swell after the 7th, so we left earlier than planned to grab a pizza at Beddia nearby — another highly touted destination for a proper π, and we needed to find out how it compares to Angelo’s in our hood!
I had a Pinot Gris (skin contact!) on tap that was nicely effervescent, my PIC had the house negroni he deemed too sweet. I concurred.
We split the margherita with mushrooms & sausage and got the pickled peppers on the side, as was suggested by our server “so as to not overwhelm the crust.”
We quickly understood what they meant about the crust, which was on the thin side & pretty floppy towards the middle. The cheese, sausage & mushrooms were very flavorful, and the pickled long hots added a nice kick, but the crust has nothing on Angelo’s.
Good news, since they’re just around the corner from us vs. 2 trains up north
I hear Bill Pullman in “Independence Day” saying this to Jeff Goldblum after he and Will Smith took out the invading aliens.
I got several ENORMOUS portobellos in my CSA today, so I briefly marinated them (oil, balsamic vin, soy sauce, garlic, Dijon) and then grilled them. They were DELICIOUS, but did not agree with me, and I’m so disappointed because I have at least 8 more from today’s pickup.
Good to know! I bought the brisket at my favourite indie butcher, Sanagan’s Meat Locker in Kensington Market in Toronto.
We liked it.
…
Today’s dinner was more brisket, and pierogis for International or National Pierogi Day.
Also, a mushroom stroganoff, which was not photogenic.
Smoked beef ribs, at about the 6 hour mark learned my better half had thrown out my blues hog sauce and was left with goopy, too sweet, baby rays
