Hmmm…usually you get the two Shingrix shots within 2-6 months of each other. Surprised they didn’t start you all over again with the 1st dose. But at least you’ve got it now!
Same. Got what was deemed a mild case in Sept 2019. Mild? Yikes. If that was mild, I dont want to know what a bad case is like! My shoulder pain was the worst (could barely lift my arm above shoulder height), although the itchy rashes were frustrating. As soon as I could get the 2 shots (had to wait a year, so Oct '20 and Jan '21) I did. Want to avoid that pain again!
I was lucky(?)I just had it on my right arm and a bit of my shoulder, ugh
Looks delish! I love sheet pan dinners & do them often when I am lacking inspiration. No brainer! This was the other night, potato, zucchini, carrot, onion, sweet red pepper, cauliflower, olive oil drizzle, Italian seasoning, granulated garlic & spicy meatballs (Carrando brand). Easy peasy!
Yeah, it presents in just a single area on a body. Mine was also on my right arm, and the pain radiated down my arm to my elbow and fingers, with occasional pulsing pain, localized burning sensations in several areas of my arm, and slight numbness in my fingers. I originally thought it was a pinched nerve, but after 2 days of that pain, went to my doctor’s office and was diagnosed.
PSA to everyone: if you’ve had chicken pox? Get the Shingrix vaccine as soon as you’re able!
Great mixture for a sheet pan dinner! And I have some CSA zucchini to use…might use part of your mix in a couple of days.
Both Shingrix jabs got me laid up for 2 days. ISTG the jabs don’t like me!
Never had chicken pox AFAIK, but got the vax anyway…as a lady of a certain age.
Didn’t affect me one bit, thankfully, but I’ve heard horror stories from my friends, though certainly not as horrific as the stories from those who actually had shingles
Picked up Italian takeout on the way home. Meatball casserole and a pasta sampler with lasagna, manicotti and cannelloni. Hard to tell what’s what in the sampler until you dig in because they sure didn’t skimp on the cheese. Both very good. Way too many garlic rolls per order so most will go in the freezer to make cheesy garlic bread another day. Fixed him a salad and a little herby olive oil to dip the bread.
But, first things first.
Cheese and charcuterie for an easy Sunday dinner. Mostly sourced from The Cheese Iron in Scarborough, Maine on our way home from a mini-getaway.
Not shown: Biscuit the dog, tucked beneath the table, hoping that a morsel of cheese and/or bread might drop. Preferably both.
Love these glasses!
Beautiful spread! That would be lovely to come home to.
Shrimp and Crawfish Étouffée! Made a big batch so there with be leftovers tomorrow. I had Gulf shrimp in the freezer, so I used their shells to make stock for this too. Carolina Gold rice to go with.
Tonight my DH made chipotle chicken chowder after I got some leg quarters started braising. It was pretty good…would be even better if I sneak in a Tbsp of chicken Better than Bullion. But hey, anytime he’s willing to cook I’m not complaining.
An “I Don’t Know What I Want For Dinner” day.
Finally decided on a burger, because it would defrost quickly.
But I didn’t want a cheeseburger.
But I wanted bacon.
Because I mean, c’mon.
BACON.
Went back in my FB posts, and found something from the old Chowhound days: hoisin burgers with a sriracha mayo. That worked.
Smeared the hoisin sauce on one side of the cooked burger as I was cooking the other side, and a combo of mayo, minced garlic, a dribble of Sriracha, and a smidge of toasted sesame oil was put on top of the brioche bun with the bacon.
L-W fries with ketchup, and a tomato, feta, basil salad with balsamic vinegar drizzled on top.
Wine.
And I’m glad I have tomorrow off.
A burger without cheese is like a sky without stars.
Green beans with roasted cherry tomatoes, mashed potatoes and a sausage slammer left over from the huge batch I took to a cookout yesterday. Spendy but delicious and always a hit. But my friend’s vat of potato salad made with potatoes, onions and dill fresh from the garden was my favorite.
Also gratuitous pic of what can happen around here when you follow handmade signs that say Dahlia Bouquets.
Another sunny Sunday @Casa Delphia was spent doing laundry, chores, and catching up on reading. We only briefly left the house for a quick visit to my PIC’s favorite bakery, bc we were running low on coffee treats & they don’t reopen until Tuesday. Can’t let that happen!
My poor dood’s dealing with a painful GI flareup, so a booze break is in order & low-impact food, i.e. just a bowl of tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese for him tonight.
I made myself a BAS (gem lettuce, tomato, perfectly ripe avocado , celery) with CK’s buttermilk ranch dressing + garlic + a finely diced onion that needed used up + sherry vinegar + lemon juice.
I made as much salad as I usually make for the two of us, so I also have a bowl leftover for lunch tomorrow
Fried up a ginormous king oyster in our spiffy new wok. Healthy and satisfying
That just means it’s cloudy.
