I had a late lunch so dinner was a charcuterie/mezze board. Salami, prosciutto, gouda, taleggio, tzatziki salad, baba ganoush, naan everything dippers, olives and Washington cherries for dessert. Today is National Tequila Day, so there was a blood orange paloma.(s)
Ah, Santa Rosa plums, a fond memory of childhood!
The Sprout stayed mainly in the Henrietta area unless 1) we were in town and willing to pay, or 2) went out with her cousins who are 10+ years older - and also willing to pay!
As many times as we were in Rochester I never had a garbage plate until the day we driving The Sprout home after graduating. We went to Henrietta Hots since that was the one she knew best. I told Mr Bean needed to do a garbage plate crawl the next time we’re there.
I have this recipe saved - I’m gonna unsave it based on your review.
Unless you significantly change that sauce, as in use far less sugar, lime juice instead of lemon (and I LURV lemon), add an element of heat & garlic & ginger… but then it’s no longer what’s meant to be a very simple sauce
OTOH, the Trini-Chinese chicken with its super-simple, flavorful 4-ingredient marinade & the punchy 3 ingredient dipping sauce is perfect as is. I think that’s bound to be on the menu again here soon
We’re the same way. For unopened, store bought food, use by dates don’t mean much to me at all, unless the top is popped.
It’s just more healthy probiotics.
Early dinner so we can get to the movie theater.
Baby portobello mushrooms/garden zuke omelette topped with homemade creme fraiche and a TJ’s olive baguette.
My 44 year old Santa Rosa plum tree feels sorry for me once in a while and gives me some plums. And then it is battle between me and the birds for the plums.
Pre-rolled, loaded pork souvlaki on a pita

Messy but delicious

Crispy pan-seared and then baked BISO chicken thighs with a peach & ginger sauce; asparagus on the side.
Sauce was comprised of:
1 ripe peach, peeled and chopped
1-1/2 Tbsp minced onion
1 tsp minced garlic
1 heaping tsp of minced fresh ginger
1/2 Tbsp dark brown sugar
1 Tbsp bourbon
Healthy pinch of cayenne
The onion was sauteed in a bit of butter until soft; added the ginger and garlic and cooked for 30 seconds, then added the chopped peaches and brown sugar and let it simmer for awhile until the peaches were mushy, which I then mashed. Added the bourbon, sprinkled with a teeny tiny bit of cayenne, simmered a bit, and kept it warm on the back of the stove.
There was wine.
Those tomatoes!
We dug some frozen spaghetti squash out of the freezer and made a casserole thing with marinara sauce, mozzarella, and spices. Served with Costco meatballs and a big green salad
I’m so happy they’re finally here. I’ve been eating them twice a day. Just need the cukes and peppers to come in - I need my daily summer dose of gazpacho.
A nice, blackened BC King salmon filet, served with herb butter. Irish Champ mashed potatoes. Our first bite of summer green beans – yum!
Spuds, scallions, herbs, and long beans from the garden.
A super quick and easy curry with tofu, zucchini, onion, and okra. Topped it with piccalilli, mango chutney, and peanuts.
Probably not worth bothering to keep all the changes you recommend so off it goes.
Is this the second chicken recipe you talk about? It sounds delish - and I already have it saved too. It’s getting harder and harder to keep track of what I have saved.
