I guess Indian was on my mind thanks to HO. I ordered take-out from Tandoori Knight, in Woodstock, Ontario. Pan Indian dishes, heavy on the northern options, which tends to be common in smaller town Ontario. This is an older restaurant that has newish owners, and the menu has all the classics.
I tried their Eggplant Bharta which was more mashed and different than the versions we ordered over and over again from our go-to Indian takeout restaurant called Massey in London, On. We tend to always order whatever eggplant curry is offered when we try a new Indian restaurant. There are some ingredients I have to avoid these days, including brassica, spinach and peas, so no more Aloo Gobi, Sag Aloo/ Paneer or Mutter Paneer for the orders anymore. This was my first time to order Bombay Aloo because we always would have ordered Sag Aloo or Aloo Gobi previously!
Very nice versions of Mulligatawny, Chicken Tikka, Karahi Lamb and Bombay Aloo.
We usually order Lamb Rogan Josh, and this might have been the first time to try a Karahi anything.
Naan was pretty good but not fantastic.
I have been trying various new Indian restaurants in London, which has a lot of new Indian restaurants, and this takeout from small 48 000 pop Woodstock was more to our taste than the last 5 restaurants I’ve tried in London.
Konkan coast prep, but unusual to find it plain, without a coating of spices, just showcasing the Bombay Duck (I had it with spicing a week or two back and was annoyed!)
Interesting it was part of pretty large meal so work very well.
It was fresh Bombay Duck, when ever I have eaten/been served the typical Dried ones they were always stuffed with some Masala fried or in a Curry.
Tonight we had baby octopus in a spiced but not spicy bone marrow sauce (loosely inspired by the Marea pasta that was way too light on the marrow!)
Also some recent leftovers including naan to soak up all the sauciness.
(I was surprised to find frozen baby octopus, and it was pretty good other than that I had to clean it, which I wasn’t expecting because the squid from the same place came fully cleaned.)

We flipped lunch and dinner because my mother-in-law was departing around dinnertime. I made Thai basil chicken with green beans, served over brown rice, sesame cucumber salad, and potstickers, followed by birthday (DH’s) cheesecake with strawberry sauce:
LOVE Bombay Duck too!!
When I was studying and working in London, UK. Indian restaurants I ate at, regularly dished out ’ Crispy Bombay Duck ’ and Papadum as complimentary finger food/amuse bouche!
Nowadays, not only one has to pay for them, sometimes BD are even being treated as a rarity and not readily available! Sign of the times! Sigh!
Bday linner with the fam at our favourite Greek restaurant. We started with garlic bread and warm pita, nicely grilled calamari and village salad. I had the moussaka, which was delicious and a huge portion so I took half home for lunch tomorrow. My sisters had stuffed grilled eggplant and stewed beans and potatoes. We finished off with baklava and coffees.
4th of July cookout! (A little late, I can’t post from where the cookout happened.) Local trout & corn, extremely local lettuce and daylilies, local-ish squash and mushrooms and shishitos.
Found a fennel bulb in the crisper that I forgot that I’d bought, so dinner tonight was a warm escabeche of monkfish medallions (loosely adapted from here) over crispy potatoes.
