I am here for it!

Not a common cut here in NC, nor was it in D.C. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it sold except maybe in some place like Dean and DeLuca.

Everyone we’ve ever taken to Henne is a convert. The siren song of the fryer oil vigorously bubbling away is near impossible to resist

Great minds (?). My best friend texted me that she’s having one on Thursday, and she’s only eating “white” foods. She and her husband are going to McDonald’s and she’s having a fish sandwich. He’s in food heaven!

She better scrape off the tartar sauce! There’s fiber in pickles!

I saw them today at our little small-town Kroger, also …

Tonight I made fried rice utilizing leftovers, tofu, and bits and bobs from the freezer. Spicy cucumber salad as the side.

Your pierogi look great!

Also duly noted for when I need beige/white food. Everybody gets a turn sooner or later.

Thanks! I love making dumplings. It’s a very zen activity for me.

Rain thwarted my plans for a bbq, again, so I gridded up an Animal style burger with bacon and cheese, fried onions and mushrooms on a toasted bun with special sauce(diced garlic pickles/mayo/catsup).
A side of “Sweet Chili Heat” chips, cause I couldn’t be arsed to make a salad or any other side dish.

Soy Sauce Butter Pasta with Shrimp and Mushrooms. I added some oyster sauce and dark soy sauce and doubled the butter. I recommend doing this!

Does anyone ever feel like you’re on Chopped before you go away? I do and it’s a fun challenge.

I’ve been doing my best to resist the siren call of my local farmstand and use what’s been languishing in the fridge.

I had once-beautiful local broccoli rabe, lemons, garlic, TJ’s lemon pesto (thanks @ChristinaM), TJ’s canned sockeye salmon, TJ’s chickpeas (I ended up subbing in some old dried chickpeas that I simmered for a few hours), old but still good Castelvetrano tapenade, and local pasta. Liberal shakes of crushed red pepper. No need for our daily salad. It came together nicely and used up stuff. I don’t why B plated his food off to the side as depicted. Nothing else went into that half of his plate.

Doesn’t it make it too sweet - both of them have some sweet background notes ?

Burritos and a bowl for me. Ground turkey (seasoned), rice, black beans, etc. Cut

up cantaloupe from the farmers market.

Not to my palate! A nice savoriness that was balanced by the cider vinegar (cut with water) I used in place of the white wine and rounded out by the butter.

The final plate in the trifecta of Greek diner dinners.

Mediterranean chicken kebabs on the grill. Scallion couscous. Greek-ish salad. Marinated olives and feta. Humus.

Summer on a plate. Smoked a large steelhead filet today. It’s served with garlic dill potatoes, buttered snap peas with mint, and a mayo-buttermilk caper and red onion sauce to cut the salt and provide some tang. Mint and peas homegrown. It’s so nice to have use of our outside again. We had exterior painting on and off for 3 wks, and I never felt comfortable doing things outside the house while the painters were here. Now I have my yard back!

We had a lot of fun and some great food. Definitely planning on going back.

The Cheesesteak was from a booth run by Sahbyy and was one of my favorites. We went with the beef which tasted like it may have been marinated in lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, maybe some sugar, and who knows what else. It was cooked on a flat top like a traditional Philly cheesesteak. The cheese was also traditional - nothing fancy. It was topped with a bit of spicy papaya salad, cilantro, and their specialty pepper chips - which looked like nothing special but gave the sandwich a nice kick.
