Ugh, why?!
Dinner at the pretty beer garden near us with a buddy. My PIC and I shared a good caponata,
nice asparagus soup with totally unnecessary croutons,
and a pizza “Diavola” that was mostly unnecessary as well. We ate it, tho.
Our buddy’s bufala pizza.
Walked past a Sicilian gelato place with a line out the door, so decided to give it a try. We shared hazelnut, bacio Siciliano & pistachio.
Huge portion, but overall underwhelming (too creamy, too sweet, too lacking in flavor).
Sous-vide to 132F, which is medium rare. Bavette is kind of tough when cooked rare.
My plans of grilling were thwarted by ominous looking storm clouds and the threat of a thunder storm, I should have proceeded with the plan(still no rain) but instead opted to roast everything in the oven.
Polish sausage/leftover chicken leg/potatoes and corn with some jazzed up St Hubert chicken mushroom gravy. Stupid weather network.
Looks pretty tasty to me. Beats cooking a meal on the Primus stove in a near galestorm at Point Reyes!
That okra looks delicious! Do you have a recipe for It. please.
It was tasty for sure, thanks! I’ll have to Google Primus stove and Point Reyes
Kudos to you for that cooking adventure!
Hey kids!
Guess what day it is?
That’s right!
It’s Haircut Day!
And you know what that means?
It’s also Wegmans Day.
And, by default, it’s also Scallop Day!
I picked out 4 colossal sea scallops, pan-seared with an orange-ginger sauce drizzled on top.
Served on rice pilaf with steamed asparagus alongside.
Ohhhh, yes. There was wine!
They were supposed to unveil a new brew at the waterside Port City festival today but it was cancelled on account of the weather
Burgers. Bunless black bean for me, regular beef for the guys. Woks of life (ish) stir fried asparagus and a Greek salad. Random combo but all in service of using today‘s farmers market haul
to your fun Sprout @MsBean who has impeccable taste in food.
Crispy skinned striped bass with potatoes, shiitakes, tomato, and sage, adapted from Heart and Soul by Kylie Kwong. A nice rainy dinner!
Tex Mex extravaganza.
For openers, NYT’s Original Nachos (gift link), with pepper jack, cheddar, and home-grown pickled peppers. On the side, homemade bean dip, and pico de gallo with avocado.
Followed by oven-roasted, chili-spiced, chicken wings, served with red rice, the remaining pico de gallo, and beans. A margarita (or three) for the cook.
It looked like crap, but it was so satisfying and hot!
Maybe we can set up something
Okra is how I rate Indian restaurants. Yours looks wonderful.
Thank you. She gets those from her father.
@digga She was always had a mature palate. I remember once when she was about 10 she ordered duck l’orange. After eating it she declared she liked the mango duck at a local Thai place much better.
Feels like I haven’t cooked at home for the BF and I in forever Winged a longaniza picadillo, with the vinegary sausage, onions, garlic, cilantro, zucchini, a diced poblano (pasilla) minced green olives, raisins, tomato paste, Sazon, and a little water. Also made Filipino garlic fried rice (Sinangag), and fried ripe plantains (platanos maduros). It all turned out really well, wish I’d made more.
Packaged pulled bbq with homemade finely chopped slaw. Quick and cheap.
We enjoyed another stellar dinner at James on Main in Hackettstown, NJ, including an awesome British blue cheese; moules frites with some awesome fries and a sauce that I could take a bath in (saffron, white wine, garlic & dijon); duck confit with green papaya salad, thai red chilis, crushed peanuts, lime; wiener schnitzel with heritage breed pork loin, breaded and pan fried, petit salad, lemon, mustard aioli. We enjoyed an excellent strawberry panna cotta with basil coulis, almond biscotti for dessert. It all went great with an excellent Molly Dooker Shiraz and cabernet.
