Aw, man, I hate it when that happens! Sole looks great though!

Tear apart 1.5 slices of bread in a bowl and combine with 4 tbs of water. Let sit for 5 minutes and mash to a paste. Add 8oz ground beef (90%) and 4 tbs finely chopped mint and salt. Mix well and form about 20 meatballs. Refrigerate until needed.
Heat some olive oil in Dutch oven, sauté finely chopped onion for 5 minutes. Add 1 tbs ground cumin and 2 tsp turmeric and cook for 1 minute. Add one small can diced tomatoes with chili and 3-6 tbs harissa (depending on your heat tolerance) and cook for 2 minutes. Add 1.5 quarts chicken broth and 2 cans chickpeas (one cup mashed) and simmer for 15 minutes. Add meatballs and simmer for 5 minutes. Off heat stir in 1/2 cup chopped mint and add salt to taste.

Awesome thank you!

A much welcome Abendbrot after 2 days of dining out. Tomorrow is a holiday in Germany (Ascension Day / Father’s Day), so picking up a few provisions for tonight and breakfast tomorrow was in order.

Rolls from a local deli, fennel salami, Vitello Tonnato, marinated zuke & wonderfully creamy, rich Roschera from the Italian market, Taleggio & other cheeses & the last of the San Daniele from a previous shopping trip, and a crisp white wine spritz with that delightful Grillo to warsh it all down

We like it so much we grabbed another 5L box

Looking forward to quieter times & a break from socializing for at least a couple of days (we hope ).

What is covering the grill grates?

Looks like a baking steel to me.

Open face Rio Mare tuna with capers/red onion/hot sauce/lemon on toasted baguette :baguette_bread:, side salad with pickled vegetables and feta.

Ah, you’re probably right.

Stuffed red bell pepper with some leftover filling (ground beef, jasmine rice, zucchini, onion, garlic, parsley, Monterey Jack cheese) from the freezer. Trying to make room for the ice cream maker insert!

Kiddo’s choice - chicken tinga tacos with cucumber spears and spicy mayo. I made/assembled Vietnamese pork tacos for my neighbor friend whose (long-ill) mom passed today, along with coconut-ginger-lime leaf rice. We’ll have some of the same tomorrow or Friday. She brought a bottle of white wine over this afternoon for a happy/sad hour.

Dark chocolate Oreos for dessert.

Stone, I’d wager.

Looks a little rusty to be a stone.

We’re in the path of thunderstorms coming at us across Cape Cod Bay and there is pea-sized hail accumulating - it looks like white styrofoam in our garden beds. Dinner is just about ready , 5-way Cincinnati chili. We still have nighttime temperatures in the 40’s.

That’s too cold for this time of year :frowning: Hopefully the chili will warm you up.

I’m sorry to hear about your neighbour’s mom’s passing. I’m sure the care packages you’ve been taking her have been appreciated.

Tonight’s dinner was a salad with blue cheese dressing then linguine with zucchini and mint. The zucchini was cooked a little longer than I would have liked since I nearly forgot to add the wild garlic I picked up in the market this afternoon.

A light supper tonight after a mediocre lunch out (why do I bother?).

A mug of garden soup from the freezer - peas and leeks - bedazzled with a drizzle of cream.

I remember calling my mom from college for instructions on how to make stuffed peppers …
