We enjoyed another excellent dinner at Jasper Stone in Monroe County, NJ, including NY strip steak with blue cheese sauce and a fresh roasted garlic clove; Misoyaki Butterfish with Glazed Black Cod, Crispy Rice,
Baby Bok Choy, Ginger & Yuzu; Lobster ceviche Honduran Style, Coconut Milk, Ginger, Aji Dulce & Black Mint; excellent charcuterie board. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.

The spirit of Christmas is in the ‘togetherness’.

Yesterday . I watched the making of white tail deer sausage . Two kinds were made . Italian and bratwurst with beer . Having a good time . I said to my friends wife . " Well this is the first sausage party ive been to ." She laughed hysterically.
Beer brat , with sautéed cabbage and onion.
Mashed potatoes with butter lake .
Im inspired to make Rotkohl for a Christmas side . It smells so good while simmering. Cheers

I took a Gordon Ramsay miso-poached salmon recipe as a jumping off place and went far afield. I simmered bok choy, mushrooms, red onion and soft tofu in a broth of water, Thai red curry paste, ginger and fish sauce. Came out pretty nice! And stupid easy.

Could be better looking, though.

Love your food pix as well as the kitty pix. Are they sharing a bowl, yet?

Very quick and uninspired meal of spaghetti chittara with marinara, crispy eggplant, and basic Caesar salad. We have had a lot going on lately!

No - at least not the wet food. That’s always separate - and they each know their “spot”. Although they are right next to each other.

The dry crunchies auto-drop into a bowl twice a day - 8am and 10pm, so yeah, they sort of share that. Although Finn used to be shoved out of the way by his late brother, Alfie, so he’s kind of gotten used to waiting a bit, since Murphy is very food-driven and jumps down from the back of the couch when the feeder’s motor starts up to drop the kibble. But sometimes, Finn gets in there first.

Either way - neither of them are starving.

We treated ourselves to a fancy cheese plate for a no-cook Saturday night dinner. Cheeses are an Alsatian Munster (France), Flory’s Truckle cheddar (Missouri), and Tomme Perigordine (France). I planned to make a green salad but decided that sliced apple and pear were enough.

We’d been in Maine for a pre-holiday break, so took the opportunity to stop at The Cheese Iron in Scarborough on the way back. One of the owners recommended cheeses we didn’t know about, guided by our taste preferences. Excellent baguette by Standard Baking Company. Food adventure within driving distance of home!

I made a roast duck the other day. I stuffed it with citrus fruits, garlic, shallot and herbs and glazed it with honey, orange juice and black treacle. Really nice and succulent. I’m the only one that eats it though so I’ve shredded it and frozen it for use in lunches.

I adore whole duck - overdone breast be damned. It’s gorgeous as a whole bird, and leaves you with so much liquid gold aka duck fat :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Quick meal thrown together by the two of us: center-cut lamb chops, roasted butternut squash and yellow potatoes, and cucumber in dilled yogurt dressing.

Pizza night, dough from TJs, when we took it from the freezer this am, realized it was gluten free.
Seemed to work out ok. Pepperoni and roast pepper and a half cheese, half meatball.
Everyone enjoyed it.

We’re gearing up for our annual anniversary trip to Philly*, so tonight’s dinner was a low-key affair of steamed dumplings w/dipping sauce & a little takeout sashimi & nigiri. Whoever rec’d spritzing the steamer with a little oil: THANK YOU! No stickage this time around :pray:t3:

*On that note I was tickled to see a Facebook memory from 2013 relating to our annual pilgrimage that included an exchange with @ChristinaM, who was going to be there just a few days later & was asking for dining recommendations.

When was it that you kids were in Berlin? 2009? Time sure flies, man :exploding_head:

I made a one pot supper based on Coq at Vin Blanc: cooked bacon to render some fat, added a chopped onion and a chopped clove of garlic, sauteed until soft, added 1 chopped celery stalk and a dozen halved cherry tomatoes, dried thyme, bay leaf and pepper. Sauteed a little longer, added 3 skinless boneless chicken thighs. Sauteed a little longer, added around a cup of white wine and a little water to cover, brought to a simmer. Added 2/3 cup small spaetzle, and simmered for 2 minutes. Strained the solids from the sauce to take out the fat. I added a little flour to thicken the sauce in saucepan . 2 of us like sauce and 1 doesn’t, so 2 of us added the thickened sauce at the table.
