What's for Dinner #101 - the Holidaypalooza Edition! - December 2023

I decided to finally try my hand at the spicy garlic shrimp I enjoyed from Jenny’s food truck on the North Shore of O’ahu.

I’d started a thread upon my return, which almost immediately fell victim to the pervasive HO phenom lovingly referred to by some as “thread drift”:melting_face:

Thankfully, I got at least a couple of helpful responses relating to the query at hand – most notably from @Amandarama, who posted a recipe link, detailed report & mouthwatering picture of her scrumptious creation. Thanks again! :pray:t3:

Being who I yam, I still didn’t follow any specific recipe & just looked at a few for inspo

I tossed shell-on black tiger shrimp in flour seasoned with s&p and hot Hungarian paprika, then fried them up in TPSTOGAG (ghee and garlic) with a couple tablespoons of Turkish hot pepper paste added for heat. My PIC supplied the rice to soak up all that spicy, garlicky, buttery goodness.

I wasn’t a fan of the flour, even if it helps the sauce stick to the shells better, and there wasn’t enough sauce for the rice to soak it up. Spice level could’ve also been higher. Roasted broc with lemon on the side.

Not quite the same as sitting at a picnic table in paradise surrounded by surfers happily sucking the sawce off of their shrimp, but it was a delicious reminder of a really good time & certainly not bad for a first
