Tonight, in honor of Chef Floyd Cardoz, I decided I need something Indian-spiced. Neither of his cookbooks had what I was looking for, so I turned to the web, and found a Madhur Jaffrey recipe on Epicurious - Royal Chicken Cooked in Yogurt.
I bloomed the spices as I learned from Floyd, then browned chicken thighs, and it took all of a few minutes before those wonderful aromas filled my kitchen! Pretty tasty, too… #RIP, Chef.
Honey Jalapeno Cornbread. Lots of jalapenos. I thought it made the cornbread moister and balanced out the honey. My wife took three bites, dove for her milk, and yelled, “Why are you trying to kill me?”
It isn’t bad, and hey, we’re all trying to make different things. For instance today for lunch I took some sliced turkey we had, heated up a can of gravy, and made open-faced sandwiches. It wasn’t bad, or so I thought. When I was finished I didn’t clean up, thinking my favorite cat, Sideways Boy, would love this. The little boy loves the gravy that comes with his wet cat food so I thought this would be a treat. He sniffed at it and then ran off quickly, leaving me to wonder just how good that “human” gravy was…
I like the look, and taste, of the small curled-up pepperoni. Nice. That is the way Tony’s in Morris Plains used to make it. Seems like that is hard to find.
Sop up the grease pools, or did you enjoy the full flavor?
