What’s on your mind?

Love that show. And it also explains why most of my summer dresses are strapless. I wish I could do little heels all the time. Well in winter here in the NE I can wear my Morticia Adams dresses. I’m not bad I’m just drawn that way. I should change my name to Jessica

From yesterday,
58 years ago today, June 27, 1964, the final episode of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show (known as Rocky & His Friends during the first two seasons and as The Bullwinkle Show for the last three seasons) aired. It originally aired from November 19, 1959, to June 27, 1964, on the ABC and NBC television networks. Produced by Jay Ward Productions, the series is structured as a variety show, with the main feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and flying squirrel Rocky. The main adversaries in most of their adventures are the Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. Supporting segments include Dudley Do-Right (a parody of old-time melodrama), Peabody’s Improbable History (a dog and his pet boy Sherman traveling through time), and Fractured Fairy Tales (classic fairy tales retold in comic fashion), among others.
Rocky & Bullwinkle is known for quality writing and wry humor. Mixing puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor, it appealed to adults as well as children. It was also one of the first cartoons whose animation was outsourced; storyboards were shipped to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio also employed by Total Television. The art has a choppy, unpolished look and the animation is extremely limited even by television animation standards at the time. Yet the series has long been held in high esteem by those who have seen it; some critics described the series as a well-written radio program with pictures.
The show was shuffled around several times (airing in afternoon, prime time, and Saturday morning time slots), but was influential to other animated series from The Simpsons to Rocko’s Modern Life. Segments from the series were later recycled in the Hoppity Hooper show.
There have been numerous feature film adaptations of the series’ various segments, such as the 2000 film The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle which blended live-action and computer animation and the 1999 live-action film Dudley Do-Right, which both received poor reviews and were financially unsuccessful. By contrast, an animated feature film adaptation of the “Peabody’s Improbable History” segment, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, was released to good reviews in 2014.
Mr. Peabody will star in a new reboot series picked up for 13-episodes.
In 2013, Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show were ranked the sixth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time by TV Guide.

Oooo swordfish. Pics please if this is not fake news. Was reading through some of the comments posted today and I am grateful that you give me so much shit. Keep it coming. Some are good at dishing it out but taking it not so much. Hypocrites grr. On other sites I have found kindred spirits. I like it that this site is big because on the “cozy” sandboxes the friends get offended and stick up for my fellow sparring partners. Kittens and puppies are always having fun play fighting and they are so much better at it than annoying humans. Thank you for the advice. I am not afraid of losing an eye it is the waiting for the pop. Someday. Anyway your “triumph” post was delightful. You surprised me which is a rare treat.

Natasha_fatale used to be my twitter handle. But I don’t tweet :joy:

I have watched them all. A beloved show. Every bit of it. If I want to show something really dumb on the internet to cdc I call out “now for something really important!” but I can’t quite get Rocky’s voice right. As I am sure you know, this was how the commercial break was announced.

Mah boy Jim Leff who should know being the creator of chowhound said that everyone loves a well modded site. Until they get modded. He made the huge mistake of friending me on fb that fool. Trying not to give him sooo much shit about his post yesterday. He is not always right but mostly he takes my fllak and gives it right back. But this would be like shooting fish in a barrel for me and I try to be kind. I know smoothies. At least he figured out the dates for decadence. https://jimleff.blogspot.com/2022/06/introducing-year-of-smoothies-also-how.html

Spiders rock. Love spiders. And love that Conan is afraid of them. No I don’t chase him around with spiders or anything. That would be mean to the spider. We had a big one that took up residence in our kitchen under the spice cabinet hung on the wall. It would dangle from it’s web but later take a nap or something under the spice cabinet Later it relocated to the kitchen window. Is it bad that I always apologize to a spider if I accidentally break it’s web.

A horned caterpillar bit the hell out of my grandmother’s hand when she was picking a tomato. She was a stoic tough woman and to see her with her hand bandaged and in pain was hard. Those I kill. In homestead FL my SO killed two scorpions in our apartment once. Had some painful up close and personal encounters with jelly fish in a bay once. Ouch but could hardly blame the little blobs. I was on their turf. Errr in their element.

Had three cars totalled over the years. None of the accidents were my fault. Made the mistake of sharing this on the wrong sandbox and the one dude who I really like told me that he is a really good driver. And his son was too. I don’t like it when people are so eager to reply that they do not actually read the post first. I am sure I have done it too but yes I hate traffic. And I know I am very lucky that my poor cars took all of the damage.

Will do. I am struggling with what to have for a side though. To be continued….

I like mango salsa but the refrigerator is bare. So bare I used the last orange for beer. Consequently I put it on a Caesar salad (kinda) with garlic bread.

I gotta pack. Uber is coming early.

That’s a lovely hunka fish. Did you mean to post that in the WFD thread and just got lost in here, or am I missing something? Bon voyage!

Hope you have fun in Philly. I am impressed at that lovely meal right before you packed for your excursion. Way better than you would have fared at my place. Plenty of libations served al fresco because Harley does not like most men. And a frozen house brand chicken pot pie. From WF. Well I cooked it at least. Nights continue to be unseasonably cool here. No complaints. So did you use your fajita pan to cook that amazing sword fish? Did your cute little mittens catch on fire?

Have never blocked anyone but I am up to three on another sandbox. Easy to tell there as people will ask them stuff or something and I will see the name of the person blocking me but no replies or anything. Sometimes I really want to see what they have to say but oh well. It is good at least that I know exactly why I have been blocked. I need to hold grudges a lot longer. I got really really angry with someone back in April but of course we are friended on fb and I would never ever de friend him even though I felt he betrayed me. I am not sensitive or easily offended so trust me this was major. At least to me. Of course I still read him so when he posted last night about a bad day but said at least there were many fireflies I sent him this and he said thank you and that was that. No more anger at all dam it. I do feel lighter. Now we are chatting about the Queen’s diet. Fun stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7vS4z6ngQo

Parker says that when you are a cat, every weekend is a long weekend! He is also very excited about his new paper bag, which was a by product of grocery shopping in preparation for the long weekend :smile_cat:

Thanks! I posted it here as part of the on-going dialogue. I like to marinade it overnight then sacrifice it on a hot grill. For the most part I’m pretty spontaneous when it comes to cooking. I’m not too good at remembering to marinade.

You are Such a bad influence. Found myself at Wegmans at the ungodly hour of two pm on a friday at the start of a holiday weekend. So what did I get? Swordfish. Since I am a swordfish noob I just used fresh lemon juice, salt and lemon pepper. Gonna go heat up my fajita pan now.

Pictures or it didn’t happen. :face_with_monocle:

Oh, I just remembered your question…I used my micro-fajita pan to carry it from the grill to the kitchen. Then ditched it. Who said size doesn’t matter. :weary:

I only recall blocking one person a few years ago on an international board. I reported them too. :joy: :muscle:

But it’s a useful tool. I actually enjoy some personalities as their posts make me burn hundreds of calories by rolling my eyes.
