What’s on your mind?

A classic!

Are you sitting down? 600. :joy:

The original recommendation was to put lights every 3 feet.

Later, after thinking about it I had them installed at 6 foot intervals. What a catastrophe. Back to the drawing board. This ranks up there with world class stupid. Even the dog was dumbfounded when he saw it. We were both…

…?..….?
:dog::confused:

Edit: Watch him in the video as he walks out past the last bush. He pauses, surveys his yard, then looks back thinking wtf happened here? Lol He cracks me up.

No point. Ukraine is on most everyone’s mind.

Here is a portion of a message I received this morning.

crying…My family with my children were under the bombing for 3 days… My city Bucha near the Kiev is destroyed… Our hearts and lives are broken …

Thank you for posting this piece. I’d never read it before and it’s profound. Its shocking relevance to our current times just proves (again) how insightful Dr. King was about human nature.

This is on my mind. I belong to a travelling ski club , where I’ve volunteered for 9 years.

Trip leader, bus captain, social planner, ice breaker, fixer, reacher outer, social media poster, FB group moderator, health advocate, gala planner, cookie exchange organizer , etc.

Sometimes, when new members join, they seem to expect a service. They snap their fingers, make demands, like a fussy customer at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

It’s off-putting to the volunteers who have been giving so many hours to welcome people, to include them, to have a new member snap Gimme Gimme Gimme.

I hope the HO contributors here aren’t feeling this way today. I am kind of feeling this way right now.

Bravo. Insightful thoughts during a rapid glance over changing landscapes. I woke up this morning to a busy playhouse a buzz with accommodation.

Has this ever happened to you? The cookie inside the box isn’t what is pictured or advertised on the box?

Chewy amaretto cookie, clearly a round shape with pistachio was not inside the box.

Yes, I’ve had the wrong tamales in a box. I emailed the manufacturer, never heard back.

I hope the new arrivals will be gracious as they acclimatize, as HOs are being to make them welcome in this place we have been enjoying with each other already.

Personalities are personalities, so I don’t doubt that there will be some ruffling of feathers with expectations / demands and some folks who only want to interact in exactly the way they did in the old place rather than get to know the new surroundings.

Someone used the word refugee elsewhere, and I had a negative reaction to it when I first read it, but in retrospect I think it’s a good way to think about this. There are people who were displaced from a known and comfortable “home” who are scrambling to relocate and reestablish their old community while getting used to a new place. Some have preconceived notions about this place from past (old) experience, some just want their own little street to repopulate and don’t care about the rest of the place, some will be lurkers until the dust settles and they see who’s here, who’s shown up, amd how things are going.

My own hope is that we’ll have some friendly new members on existing threads, some new/recreated humming threads for existing members to enjoy participating in, some reinvigoration of regional boards, and some brand new discussions that come up in the future that we wouldn’t otherwise have had without the new mix of all of us.

I’m (cautiously) optimistic
