What new and shiny cookware do you regret a bit?

I missed that the rack was also coated :woman_facepalming:t2:

I love mine. The more I use it, the more uses I find for it.

I made the mistake a few years ago of buying a pair of silicone “roasting racks” Worse to clean than a metal rack. Ugh. Gross. I pitched them quickly.

My silicone cupcake molds were hard to clean, too.

I hate egg white streaks in my scrambled eggs.

Don’t let it scare you off from tinned copper, but stick to the older, heavier stuff you can often find at surprisingly good prices on eBay or Etsy.

As long as they’re not spoogy / undercooked I don’t care about that, but my regular whisk usually does the trick.

How is this different?

I have 3 of those whisks.

I also have a Double Balloon Whisk that like even more.

No French omelettes for you! The French like spoogy eggs so much they have their own word, baveuse. It is one of my favorite French cooking terms, and I use it at every opportunity. They also like scrambled eggs done that way.

The Delbor (yeah, they say Delbir but I was taught Delbor) whisk is terrific for making roux or gravy.

The visp (on Etsy) is also terrific and tin safe.

I also like my Danish dough whisk.

I got rid of my instant pot, rarely used, last year. I thought it would replace my rice cooker and pressure cooker both of which worked fine but were rarely used and which I gave away. The IP did not work as well as either of those items and was honking big in the cabinet. Now I am doing all my cooking on the stove or in the oven. Slower yes, but I rarely regret not having the other appliances.

Oh, yeah. I do not care for them that way at all.

I like the hands-off aspect of the IP, but I knew I would regret getting a 6qt instead of a 3qt, and so I do.

Someone wanted to give me the air fryer lid for the 6qt, and all my pot-in-pot things for my regular PC fit into it, plus it had sous vide functionality, so I ultimately gave in. I used the SV function a lot, but never got around to the air fryer. I do use the PC function on it much more than I expected to – the hands-off part is a big plus.

I am contemplating giving away the 6qt with all the extra bits to a friend’s kid who moved into an apt recently, and getting a 3qt like I originally wanted

We had a different one before Philly, but liked the one in that pad so much we got that brand (bigger model). It’s incredibly easy to clean, lives between the booze shelf and the teevee, and makes some killer food

I’m still very hesitant to try n make steak in it, tho. Mabez if I get one on sale…

It seems to do a better job of breaking up the whites than my regular whisk. It’s springy :woman_shrugging:t3: maybe I’m just a bad whisk-wielder.

Ron Popiel invented and sold an inside-the egg scrambler. I don’t think they sold too well. I never bought one, or any Popiel gadget, for that matter. My dad always wanted one of the rotisseries. We didn’t indulge him.

I have a wee Delbor. It’s great for stirring instant cocoa mix in a mug. No lumps. Guess that’s roux-adjacent.

I haven’t done steak either. I’m a reverse sear fan.
