Just saying that I like the new character that replaced NW.
Broke in our new projector and screen and had our friends over for movie night. The choice fell on El Conde an award-winning horror ‘comedy’ imagining Pinochet as a vampire. It’s pretty violent (not for the faint of heart), and a dark sense of humor – but the cinematography is absolutely beautiful, and occasionally downright poetic. In B&W.
Started Season 2 of The Bay on Britbox. It’s set in Morecambe, Lancashire, England.
This has been quite entertaining.
I’m continue my binging of shows I missed as a kid. While I watch the final season of Naked City I’m now also watching Twelve O’Clock High, an excellent show in the classic Quinn Martin style — four acts and an epilog.
I just received the original Perry Mason, series 1 and 2. I’m hoping to view them on some cold winter (if we have that this year) evenings when I can’t find anything else on the 5 channels we get through the antenna. I saw an few as a kid and I’d like to revisit: Honey West, The Addams Family, the Munsters, Batman, The New People just to name a few. I’m planning on watching a few Night Gallery and Twilight Zones this month. My favorite TZ is ’ Time Enough At Last’ with Burgess Meredith. Something about the librarian in me…
Yeah I used to buy DVD sets of old shows but now I just go to Amazon prime. They have the complete TZ and so many other classics from the 50s-80s. I might dip into some old The Saint too!
We’ve been watching the series The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. Just a few episodes in but enjoying it.
Night Gallery “earwig” episode and Twilight Zone “Time Enough To Last” deserve going down in history. I might add The Andy Griffith Show to your list along with The Munsters., I would definitely cross off Batman. All that POW, BAM, BOOM. Some shows are better off left in the past.
Yeah I tried watching Gilligan’s Island. OMG so bad. Definitely better left in the childhood memories. I much rather see Russell Johnson show up on Twilight Zone or Naked City.
We’ve known for a lifetime someone who claims to have watched Perry Mason from time to time instead of schlepping to Criminal Law class. (Fat lotta good that musta done, but we’re not positioned to be judgmental.) In fairness, we get it about Miss Street (and Barbara Hale’s voice), having read a coupla Erle Stanley Gardner paperbacks way back . . . though in all fairness to Della, the TV show we remember toned down Mr. Mason’s possibly unstruck sparks with someone maybe too good for him . . .
I think he was happy in the end…
Oh so very young!
I watched this last night. I thought it was very cool.
Watched it last night. Started strong but was just ok for me.
Another horror flick last night, and one that had me screaming out loud a few times (poor cat, who was happily curled up next to me): The Bogeyman with the very good Sophie Thatcher, who played the young Juliette Lewis character in Yellowjackets.
Lotsa nice scares and creepy AF.
I’m watching The Long Call on BritBox. It’s a little slow. https://www.britbox.com/ca/show/The_Long_Call_69699
