This was my first Fargo! And now it’s over.
Slowly (deliberately) making my way through BBC Connections. I’m too fascinated by this series to watch more than one per week. That sounds contradictory, but they’re really an educational treat.
Also, watched the 10-part PBS documentary Pacific Century. Mind you it’s a bit dated (it’s from the early 1990s), but there are some good episodes about China and Japan.
I like both Italian Job versions.
The Sting, Heat, How to steal a million, Ocean’s series, Point Break 1991, Snatch, Tower Heist,
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Those are some heist movies I loved watching. There’s a lot more.
But not the Lift.
I thought the first season was the strongest (it was so long ago now I’m probably due to rewatch; imo rebranded Billy Bob, Goliath came soon after), second was good, third was the weakest (I had trouble getting through it).
Excited for Jodie in True Detective.
Till this point I would not have guessed a pet allergy was the source of his gross situation
He is always a treat — his small but recurring role on Monk was fantastic.
I loved Panic Room.
Jodie in True Detective
sounds great!
So many people and not one Traitors UK (S2)? That’s traitor behaviour.
Me too. All the Fargos were ace.
Oh, my. While I loved that flick as a youngin’ it’s so over the top it qualifies as camp. Full-on Pacino chewing up the scenery, Keanu not being able to act his way out of a bucket (“I AM AN FBI AGENT” is kind of a running joke at casa lingua whenever he comes up). Some good visual tricks, tho.
Why would you put this film in the ‘heist’ category, though?
Well, the 4th with Chris Rock not so much, IMO, but the last one was back to form (if not as great as the initial first 3).
oh, it’s camp all right, but High Camp in my book.
yeah, didn’t mean to suggest that it was a heist film, only comparing Al’s performance in Heat vs. Devils Advocate. both are insane. but it’s hard to beat a role where he’s literally playing the devil.
Yes, highly enjoyable camp, even decades later. And some creepy shit/effects that hold up.
Great, now I wanna rewatch
Not sure if this qualifies as Dutch:
Trivia: Marc Warren and Maimie McCoy were in the Musketeers together.
Thank you! We were looking for something new.
We watched Harlen Coben’s Fool Me Once , the last 2 nights. Meh. I thought we’d try Netflix after a month of BritBox.
We enjoyed No Offence on BritBox.
Alrighty @shrinkrap, easier than expected – it’s on Prime here.
I am old enough to remember the original Van de Valk (and remember that its theme tune “Eye Level” was a No. 1 record in the UK in 1973). The remake is indeed a loose remake - the main character is a cop called V de V and it’s set in Amsterdam, but that’s about it. It’s a reasonable watch.
Just finished that one. It was, as the kids say, mid. And I knew who the killer was in the first episode (although I did not know the motive).
Fargo season 5 is a good one! Fans of the movie will definitely enjoy it.
A new detective series sports some good writing:
I really liked Inside Man. I am always intrigued when I remember it’s a Spike Lee joint.
