Strong recommend.
Small part, in a great movie.
Thanks for the rec (@small_h as well)! Haven’t heard of either. Might be on the box if we don’t go out tonight.
You can say what you want about Ben Affleck, but he is one fine director. Also recently rewatched his Argo, for the third time now I believe.
And who could forget
We started watching The Perfect Couple last night.
Love The Town! Very rewatchable. Ben A, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, Pete Postlethwaite, Titus Welliver…. Good stuff.
I recommend the 2 part documentary Wise Guy-David Chase and the Sopranos for any Sopranos fan. We recently started watching the Sopranos after 25 years, and it is just as great as it was back in 1999.
Just watched a lesser known Clint Eastwood flick called Coogans Bluff from 1968. One of the bridge movies between Clint’s classic westerns and his later ultra violent movies, this one revolves around an Arizona deputy sheriff who travels to NYC to capture a violent fugitive. Some standard fish out of water stuff but with direction by Don Siegel (their first collaboration) and cast that includes Lee J Cobb, the lovely Susan Clark, and David Doyle (!) playing a heavy, you know it will be worth a watch.
Don’t laugh, but I heard mention of Falcon Crest online a few weeks ago and remembered I really liked that show way back when. So I ordered season 1 dvd set. It’s just ok imo (not bad) but my husband is tired of the one episode per day. Now I’m thinking about ordering Dynasty Season 1 because I liked that back then too. Might as well.
There are a few ‘older’ shows I’d like to rewatch, and Sopranos is one of them. Six Feet Under is another.
I watched it and enjoyed the way the episodes were filmed in the spirit off The Sopranos sets.
I enjoyed seeing the initial auditions, and how Little Stevie was originally auditioning for Tony Sopranos role, but the casting team didn’t feel he had any acting experience. They ended up creating the role of Silvio just for him, and he was fantastic in it. Also, Drea De Matteo originally auditioned for Carmela Sopranos role, and didn’t get it, but they created a role of Christopher’s girlfriend for her. Also, David Chase didn’t want to see her killed on screen so they killed her off screen. They also filmed 2 separate endings, one where she died and one where she got away, so as not to let spoilers get out.
It was also funny to hear that Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico) did his own hair. He wouldn’t let anyone touch his hair, and fought with David Chase about having to have his hair messed up during the infamous Pine Barrens episode (which was the only episode where his hair was out of place).
Overall, what a fantastic cast and series.
Yes, the behind the cast stuff is fun to learn about! I haven’t rewatched the series but I should.
I rewatched Six Feet Under 2-3 years ago, having seen the original when it came out. Still very impressive and watchable. Reading this article made me eager to rewatch.
I’m on Season3 of My Brilliant Friend at present. My sister and wife rec’ it. Quite the Italian saga series if you haven’t sampled it yet.
Have also seen that series, really nice. Especially the images at the Italian seaside.
And the cars, food and clothing!
If you love Italian series, have you seen La Meglio Gioventu? You know what, I should rewatch this! (now that I understand a little Italian!)
No, I haven’t. Thanks for the rec!
